Jotun: Valhalla Edition

I started playing it back in 2017, but stopped, because it was too hard for me. Now, 8 years later, I finally picked it up again and managed to beat the final two bosses. Only fighting Odin probably took half my playtime. xD There is NewGame+, but I wont go for it, since it is too hard (for me!). :D Many more achievements to get and great souls-like if you are into it. Also comes with great story. Thumbs up!

Steam doesn't have neutral option so I picked the closest one in my opinion. Gameplay: It's a very short boss rush game, pretty much sums the whole game. Except that in between boss fights, you have to explore this pretty long puzzle-esque map so you can unlock the boss arena. Sure it has a purpose narratively, but I don't really pay attention and it's doesn't impact the game in any way. Also you don't have player pointer in the map, which I assume the purpose is just to prolong the exploring (and play duration) but for me it's just really annoying. Difficulty: Some of the bosses is hard, but not souls-like hard. I'm having real difficulty for one of the boss only, and it's not the final boss. Once you get speed boost and hammer abilites, you can pretty much wreck any boss in under 2 minutes. The difficult part is mostly the exploring sections. Art: Probably the only aspect I can really appreciate, the environments and bosses is beautifully drawn any animated. Shame the gameplay didn't really complements it.

The maps don't tell you where you are so it is annoying to travel; and the bosses are more annoying than actually hard.

Just because it's hand drawn doesn't mean it's good; You need a magnifying glass for boss battles. Good thing I didn't pay a penny for this.

Good music, great art style, terrible combat
