I am comfortable reviewing IxSHE Tell (Aishiteru) relatively early because I don’t think I intend to completely finish this one. This is the baseline for what a romcom VN should be. Very lighthearted and very funny. There are some really wacky characters and it’s all pretty over the top. You’re not going to get much of value out of it but it’s enjoyable, good brain off content when you need to decompress.
I’ll be honest, only one romance option is at all interesting for me in this. It’s definitely made for a different audience than me. The tsundere/gap moe bully senpai, the antisocial childhood friend, the pining underclassman, and the tsundere president all just seem like kinda toxic grounds for a relationship. The estranged childhood friend while overbearing seems the most level headed of them all and has some actual romantic development in the common route.
The TL sacrifices accuracy for embellishment at points, and usually I think that’s a good thing, but this one takes it just a little too far and adds or changes the meaning that wasn’t there in the original. It’s really obvious when the VA is saying only a couple words but a full on paragraph shows up in the textbox.
The music is… eh. Not bad but they have it lowered by default so it’s pretty intentionally mediocre I’d say. The VAs do a good job of carrying the fun.
Overall like a 6/10 experience. Not terrible, not great, but funny enough for a few hours of your time if the price is reasonable.
update: after finishing the entire game, the only stand out romance was indeed Kasumi. the writers spent all the points on her. The rest are kinda just moeblob garbage save for a cute moment here or there. Really sucks because all of the humor immediately dies out. Play hers last as its by far the best one to end on.
