About
Run, don’t walk like an Egyptian to your nearest Steam store and check out It Belongs in a Museum!
put on your virtual reality headset and join a secret organization that has been around for thousands of years, in a story that wouldn't sell out a block buster movie, but is JUST good enough for VR! Your task is simple: take your ample goddess companion into battle across five stages listening to her recall the story while destroying monsters with an array of weapons. Look for sparkly treasure strewn across large, small, and procedural dungeons to satisfy your need to buy much needed guns. Marvel at the lack of consistency in story telling as the plot unfolds leaving you with more questions than answers!
And when all of that is finished, you can extend your gameplay experience by repeating the stages in a similar fashion to a hamster in a wheel for the sole purpose of buying virtual versions of REAL artifacts from the skeleton dealer to fill up your museum… to scratch that “I need to collect something….” Itch!
So, act now! Copies are limited…. Wait… digital games aren’t limited, are they? OK screw it I’m too old for this.
Features:
- Multiple weapons: pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, shotguns, grenades, bow and sniper!
- Enough Unity store assets flipped you’ll think it’s a gymnastics tournament!
- Foul mouthed NPCs that keep it PG-13!
- A “story” written in the span of weeks when time allowed, loosely based on Akkadian/ Mesopotamian mythology with a large order of plot holes and logical fallacies!
- Smooth motion with no teleporting!
- snap and smooth turning!
- Full body IK now with glitchy arms and hands!
Slow time just to make shooting look cool! now cool shooting in slow Mo does more damage! Be careful though, using the slow time power can cost you health!
- Companion fully voiced by a REAL actress and other NPCs voiced by REAL AI!
- Inconsistent pacing and level design because sometimes I just thought: “Not realistic, but it looks cool!” (UPDATE: ALL NEW BETTER LOOKING FLASHY LEVELS! just as inconsistent but with traps!)
- Various types of enemies from skeletons, zombies, and mummies… OH MY!
- Climbing on various surfaces such as walls, pyramids, and …..stairs!
(Achievements not yet included (probably never!). Side effects may include headache, fever, runny nose, nausea, lack of ambition, weight gain, indigestion, and priapism. Consult your doctor if you have two or more of these symptoms lasting longer than 4 hours.)

It Belongs in a Museum is a free to play Rogue-lite, treasure hunting, artifact collection VR story game. It worked on my Index, HTC Vive and Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Give this free game a try, you might like it.
The heroine is very beautiful. When you fight, you can summon her by clicking the button on your left wrist. It's really cool to fight together. But I have a little problem. At the first level, I killed all the enemies, but I didn't know how to keep going. It was all walls. I saw a post with a head on it, but I didn't know where the skull was and how to get through it. Could you teach me, please ?

It Belongs in a Museum, Rogue-lite, hazine avcılığı, eser koleksiyonu içeren bir VR hikaye oyunudur. Bir gölge örgüte katılın ve onun zayıflamış, yeniden dirilmiş tanrıçasının, prosedürel zindanlarda, mezarlarda, kayıp şehirlerde ve antik kalıntılarda serbest bıraktıkları laneti geri almak için sihirli hazineleri aramasına yardımcı olun.
This one's a hard maybe in my book, as it stands. Pros: -Something different than just blasting random things -Decent variety of guns -Big booba goddess Cons: -Lack of accessibility menu or even sticky on turn (honestly, I don't care for snap turning) -Cannot buy ammo individually, and it has a tendency to get lost in the floor before disappearing -Combat can be rather overwhelming -No idea exactly how to summon big booba goddess (says you're supposed to activate her on the watch, but I never see the option) Played on Quest 2 using Steam Link VR.

"It Belongs in a Museum" is a poorly made VR exclusive contentless (procgen) dungeon shooter game that flopped due to general lack of quality and polish... it was a clunky mess that gamers didn't enjoy. The idea is that you're Lara Croft doing tomb raiding to get stuff, which means fighting a goddess thing by shooting stuff... ugh. It's a crappy VR FPS. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 10 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
I recieved a copy of the game from the dev to test the game with Index Controllers. We discovered some button placing issues and I asked for smoothturn. The later already got added 2 days after I asked for it. The button mapping is a bit more ticky, but will be resolved soon for sure. Now for the actual review: It belongs in a Museum is a rouge like zombie shooter. In each stage we search for the key to open the door to the next stage and on our way we shoot skeletons and Zombies. We need to buy the weapons at the start of the stage. And to get the money for our weapons, we collect treassures, that are scattered around the stage. Different treassures do have different value. And each run the trassure you can find is random. The loop of going to a stage , buy your favourite weapon and kill all the undead and collect treassures to buy weapons again the next time, is addicting. Each weapon feels unique. I really enjoy my playtime. and because of how fast paced the stages are, espacially after you got familiar with the layout, it is a nice game for inbetween. The grafics are beautiful aswell. You can summon a companion and she looks realy pretty. and all the artwork int the Lobby/Museum is high detail and we even get some nice info text about the historical stuff. I really enjoyed this.
Cool Idea, But Needs Work
This game has a really awesome concept and honestly a solid base, but there are a few things that held me back from giving it a thumbs up. I really want to like it, so I’ll be keeping an eye on updates. Here's what stood out:
Grabbing Items Feels Off
Grabbing weapons, ammo, and treasure just feels weird and inconsistent. Sometimes I have to try a few times to pick something up, and in the middle of combat, that’s super frustrating—especially when I accidentally grab the wrong thing just because I moved my head too far. Some ideas that might help: Maybe use a system like Boneworks/BoneLab where you always pull ammo from the same spot (like your left hip). Move weapons to the shoulders and have a dedicated bag spot (maybe a button press or something fixed), so it’s not just a loose object that floats around. A Half-Life: Alyx-style distance grab would be amazing too—especially for people playing while seated.
The Goddess Doesn’t Really Do Much
One of the main reasons I tried this game was because of the idea of having a goddess companion—it sounded awesome. But in practice, she barely follows me. She gets stuck behind doors constantly, and half the time it feels like she’s not even in the same room. It ends up making her feel more like a background prop than an actual companion. I think it would help a lot if she didn’t have the whole “choose which verison to summon” thing and instead was always around, with options to re-summon her if needed due to being stuck and to switch what she’s focusing on. It’d be even better if I could command her using my left hand—like telling her to grab something, attack a specific enemy, or help with puzzles (like flipping a switch). That would make her feel way more interactive and useful, instead of something I forget is even there.
Combat Doesn’t Feel Right
This is the biggest reason for the thumbs down. Right now, it feels like it takes way too many bullets to take out even weak enemies. When I have a goddess on my team, I expect fights to feel a bit more balanced—or at least more fun. It’s mostly a damage tuning issue, I think. Maybe make the weaker enemies go down faster and keep the tougher ones a challenge. Also, letting us upgrade or modify weapons would help the roguelike elements shine more. Right now, every fight feels like I’m just emptying two magazines and hoping the goddess is doing something while I reload.
Final Thoughts:
Again, I love the idea and I’ll be checking back to see how it improves. I want to recommend it, but it’s just not quite there yet. Here's hoping future updates really bring out its potential.
