About
Isles of Yore is a multiplayer simulator that aims to make you experience what it was like to go through life as a prehistoric animal.

Claim your domain with an animal of your choosing in an environment that best suits your needs—dense jungle, treacherous swamps, and the wide open areas of the island all offer unique advantages and challenges.
Compete with other players and AI in a bid for supremacy and survival in the food chain.
Various carnivores and a herbivore character are available for play, with AI driven characters likewise inhabiting and stalking the land around you.
Future updates will extend this roster further, with larger animals and aquatic biomes planned.
The game's core centers around making you feel like your animal, putting you in full control and giving you a sense of what it was like for the animal when it roamed the Earth, growing and tending to its needs. Balancing thirst, hunger, and stamina are vital day-to-day concerns as you explore the rich environment around you alone or in a pack of friends.
While the main focus is on the immersive simulation, PvP elements with combat between players is available.
If there are no other players around you'll encounter AI animals on your journey, helpful considering our small community and true to the game's core focus of providing a simulation experience in a world that progresses without you.
If you're looking for a more laid back experience, Isles of Yore might be right up your alley.

The game includes a character customisation system, giving you creative control over aspects such as patterns, colouring, and skin types.
Spots or Stripes? Proto-feathers or scales? It's up to you.
A talent tree system also exists to further tailor your chosen animal to your liking, with options to specialise for the playstyle you prefer.

Explore a large, diverse island with its own day/night cycle and highly variable weather.
Fog, snow, and storms may reduce your vision as you navigate through the world, heat waves and cold spells may force you to take refuge in shelters.
The game features a variety of AI animals that can be found inhabiting the island.
Each species has its own own schedule and is trying to survive on the map just like you.
You'll run into migrating herbivores and hungry carnivores hunting for their meals—make sure you don't end up on the menu!
Younger animals can be found amongst the roaming packs and may present an opportune snack if you're quick enough to escape the adult's protective claws and fangs.
A big goal of the project is to further extend the AI systems and make the animals feel true to life with behaviour that uniquely suits them.
Documentation on server hosting is available, with a plethora of options available for server owners—gameplay parameters such as the speed at which your needs deplete, stats overrides, and many more are all available to tailor the experience to your community's liking.
⚠️ Please note that the server configuration system is currently going through a revamp, and some options have been deprecated for the time being (mainly weather changes, time of day progression, and control over the AI count). This is part of an ongoing effort to update these systems and make the core experience better.
Going at it alone is not required, as grouping and chatting (toggleable) with your friends is fully supported.
Isles of Yore is a passion project started from a place of admiration for the awe-inspiring history of life on our planet. The path forged by games in the survival genre offers a uniquely visceral, tantalising glimpse into this strange and wondrous past, and Yore intends to build on this formula with special care to highlight the uniqueness of the animals that came before us.
The game is being developed by a small team and is still going through its update cycle to expand and improve the experience.

Edit (May 2025): After a couple of years of not playing, a recent major update, and the (single?) Dev that is actively optimizing it as the players suggest (through Discord) I'm changing my stance on this. It still needs a lot of work but it has potential. Both my friend and I are giving it a second chance. Old opinion: As of right now, the game is near unplayable. There's potential there but right now my friend and I will be asking for a refund. Love the scent mechanics and aesthetic but the constant DC's, lagging ai dinos, and commands not working, no. For a year's worth of work, in comparison to say Day of Dragons at its very start, this game is not great. Dev's, I'm sorry but work less on the looks and more on the bugs and game mechanics.

8/10 the game has ai game graphics 10/10 much better the he isle evrima map size 10/10 tho growth should be a little faster. it's far much better then the isle evrima reason being its has Dino AI ! . the map has better design & layout pulse growth takes Les then half an hour to get full gown unlike the isle evrima witch take nine hours just to get killed then have to restart all over again.
100% would recommend. I really wish people played this game more as it has great potential, and I enjoy it even on dingleplayer. Very customizable with a nice amount of dinos. In due time I'm sure more will be added. Excited to see what is to come.
Isles of Yore

Please take this review with a grain of salt as at the time of writing this i have only spent slightly less than half a hour playing. But just from that short while i can easily tell you that this game is way too early in development to be released, I paid ten pounds for something that is barely playable. Things to do are very limited, press V to sniff out red and blue strings that either vaguely lead you to prey items or lead you to water sources, kill and eat mindlessly running around AI that barely even reacts to your presence, and sit around waiting for other people to join your server. (Nobody joins your server because chances are you are the only person online.) The major positive thing i found with this game was just how beautiful the environments were! One of my main issues with games like The Isle is just how de-saturated and dull the plants and wildlife are. Its all walking around flat landscapes with uninteresting vegetation and goats wondering around everywhere. Isles Of Yore is decently colourful (not as colourful as Beasts Of Bermuda) and its environments are full of prominent steep cliffs and very visible volcanoes. (I am aware that the isle does have interesting landmarks, but they are so few and far in-between for such a massive map it just feels like you're walking on flat grass for most of the experience.) Overall i believe this game has an amount of potential. Like most dinosaur survival games nowadays, its just that none of them seem to go anywhere. They all either run out of money or their developers lose interest, or the developer drama and or toxic playerbase completely swamp the games reputation. I don't think you should buy this game unless you are doing it purely to support the developers in their project to create yet again another dinosaur survival game.
