I would have given this game a good review. It's fundamentally a good idea and it looks great. But here are my issues: 1: You cannot rebind keys, so if you have a physical issue that makes WASD not work for you, you are out of luck unless you have a programmable keyboard (Which really really is just doing a lazy dev's work for them). 2: They do allow you to invert the mouse, but it reverts every time you enter a new zone. A small thing but it shows a lack of attention to detail. 3: The game forces arbitrary limits on where you can go rather than building the levels in a consistent manner. What do I mean by this? Well, in most places you can jump like a rabbit almost everywhere, but in certain places you just can't because the devs don't want you to. It's a like of consistency that breaks immersion and could have been fixed with a better eye to level design. See that gap in the rocks that normally you could jump over and around? Well that's part of a puzzle so you just cant jump there. Why have that gap there in the first place then? Just make it look impassable in the first place, either I can move like a mountain goat or a can't. Pick one please. It's obvious that a lot of work went into these beautiful and relaxing environments but at the end off the day it's a fantastic garden on top of a steep staircase with no handicapped access and that's a real shame. If you are comfortable with the bog standard WASD controls though, you should check it out. It is good.
Island of the Lost starts like a simple exploration game but very quickly, the game uses cleverly designed levels to build its gameplay mechanics. You will have to find your path, but you will never get lost, you will experience a few platforms phases, avoid deadly traps, and even use a boat! The environment are beautiful, you can see they've been crafted with love. Don't underestimate Island of the Lost, if may looks like a simple game but it's really rich!
Very fun exploration game! I ran into a few frustrations with some of the achievements triggering but after some trial and error it seems restarting the game fixed the problem. The levels are beautifully designed and feel maze like in a good way. None are complicated enough that you're liable to get lost for any length of time. As another reviewer states, "The more I played it, the more I enjoyed it." Do yourself a favor and just try the demo, but understand that the level represented in the demo is one of the.... how should I put it.... least good ones? I mean it's good. But most of the others are better! There are some significant easter eggs that I won't give away here, but one made my afternoon when I found it :) I have seen it described as a walking simulator, but it's not that. You can run around quite quickly alleviating some of the frustration that those games often entail. + Graphics. This will be up to individual taste. They're not cutting edge or high poly counts, but it's a very pretty game. + Music/audio. It's nice and fitting and never tiresome. It seems a bit low quality as far as the sound/clarity goes, but it's not bad. + You run around collecting things, what's not to like? It's neither too easy, nor too hard. There needs to be more games exactly like this! If you know of any similar, feel free to reply. I'll leave this open to comments. + The developer is quick to respond to questions/problems on the forum. This is very much appreciated! + All achievements DO work, though some have sensitive triggers. Also, see below. - The achievements were a bit glitchy. I ended up replaying some levels a few times, but I think restarting the game may fix that. I mention this because it's not an issue I have had with other games. - In a couple levels there is a few areas where you can easily get stuck. This can be a bit frustrating. Pressing R respawns you, albeit usually at the beginning of the level making you find your way back to where you were. Lastly there's a fair number of complaints that the game doesn't include a save system. In my humble opinion it's unnecessary. If you've spent any substantial time at all in a level, you've likely got a good bit of it memorized and it only takes a couple of minutes to run into any given part since the developer has kindly put a really neat looking island in the menu you can go to in order to pick the level in which you want to play.
Sweet game. Same developer that created Unlocked. Similar with many added features and more adventures. Level through a variety of geographies on a large island. Gather items and unlock the next levels. No puzzles, some simple platforming as with Unlocked. Ability to repeat levels to find more achievements if you find yourself skipping a few. Thoroughly enjoyable scenery, music and atmosphere. There are a few surprises if you happen to fall down the "wrong" hole. I stumbled on 1 bug and got stuck on the swamp level requiring a restart of that level. No biggie. Priced right for a relaxing time.
i like the game lots of color some parts hard to find stuff but thats what makes it cool

Loved it! Visual masterpiece! Very cool exploration adventure 1st person game. Each level is unique, full of areas to explore. In each level you have to find few things like treasure chest, skulls, gemstones etc. I play games like the The Long Dark or Far Cry series and this little gem is right up my alley. I honestly can't believe it was created by one person - kudos to James Smart!!
interesting game. Now that there are video hints I can play with less stress.
Fantastic atmosphere. Really fun to explore, relax, get lost and find you way off the island.
I am not kidding when I say this game gives off The Witness vibes. It is not nearly as long or complicated or deep, but atmospherically and in terms of your desire to just keep exploring, it reminded me of my time with The Witness. This is one of the best games I've ever played in the 1st person puzzle/exploration genre. The graphics are beautiful. The music is so pitch perfect and fits the sense of mystery so well. The level design is insanely good; just as tight and clever as can be. What I liked about the experience was the unexpected nature of what you do in the game based on the marketing material. The marketing only shows you basically the first area. The game world gets so beautiful and diverse as you progress. Some of the environments are stunning. I can't recommend it enough. If you've ever enjoyed this kind of game, then you will really enjoy Island Of The Lost.
