Into the Dangerous World I Leapt is an obscure exploration game where you explore and collect, interact, and by the end, hide. The order, activities, and what belongs to what is not obvious at all. The area being freely explorable adds to the confusion when it's not clear where you have to go. There's no guidance or help. In the end, I needed to peek into a walkthrough guide multiple times. At the end, the being chased and hiding mechanic was very frustrating as well, with no clear influence on how to evade where you need to go. The absurd fantasy world is interesting. Everything else was lacking. (bug) Text getting stuck and no longer being able to read text behind text didn't help in what was going on. For a free title, still worthwhile if you can stomach or forgive the annoyances.
I played for an hour, 2 runs yet not finished. A free game, I like the idea of leaping between reality and fantasy, seeing how much a room of the same theme can differ. It has some horror elements but not explicit, no jump scares nor chases but playing it at 3am (I just watched a World Cup match and decided to play a bit before crash) made me look back every 5 mins. It's a first player puzzle game, the main goal is to find objects in one world to solve puzzles in the other. The map contains several rooms with a courtyard, not much story is told and with little help of NPC, it is basically a free-explore game, pick up whatever can be interacted with and trying those on monstrous things blocking the way or things that either look "different" or "wrong". Dev offers a good concept, I enjoyed looking at many uniquely-designed rooms, especially the dormitory when it turns into a
creepy slaughterhouse-like place on fire with cages and faces on the ground
. I believe it is a good metaphor of how working class/child labor being abused. Besides, leap between 2 worlds to get inside the cage is smart. Also, once an item is picked, until it is removed it might be used on different occasions - like the watering can can be used for watering as well as putting off fire. The hint is few so I need to be creative. The downside is pretty obvious. This game feels difficult not due to puzzles but finding items is tedious. In my first run I missed the watering can, which is located at a corner without a lead, as a result I missed the first item, too, not to mention you need to stand really real close to interact. No save is available. If this is a visual novel that requires no brain work it's alright, but I doubt how many could finish without a guide, resetting the game is no fun. The last thing is I didn't know there was an inventory (Press E). I gave up because I encountered a glitch that locked a line in the middle of the screen, making any new conversation hard to read. BTW, the kid NPCs look much like Popmart's Molly dolls. This game has potential, if it offers save slots and does more debugging, it can charge a few dollars. Very decent FREE puzzle exploration game. Just opening doors controls really bad and I guess it can be quite tough to know what you are supposed to do next.
The atmosphere is great, the story telling in a mysterious way is great, the art that showcase madness is great, but the controls and the poorly implemented physic kill all the fun of the game. There's no save for this game and players are forced to finish it in one sitting. The Ending(?) is not rewarding at all. In short, there's more frustration than enjoyment.
Summary
Very short free creepy surreal adventure puzzle game focused on its story. Pros + Interesting surrealism Cons - No saves
Overview
into the dangerous world i leapt is a free and very short creepy surreal adventure game mostly focused on its story, although there are parts to the story/lore that isn't directly explained leaving you with unanswered questions by the end. The game mostly relies on its main mechanic where you switch between worlds to explore and find solutions to puzzles to progress the story. While exploring and moving about the factory you will quickly learn that there is a bit of jank when it comes to opening doors and windows, best way to explain is that sometimes you either pull or push depending on which side you're on as they only open one way. While playing I did encounter a bug where I somehow lost an item I needed to progress and it forced me to replay from the start as there is no saves and must be finished in one sitting. Achievement is simple, just finish the game.
Very fun and trippy. Leapt is a weird word.

Into the Dangerous World I Leapt es un juego de puzzles y exploración surrealista.
