I can see a lot of potential in the various stories in Interactive Horror Stories. They have interesting premises and have a few good options but overall they need a lot of work. The writing lacks emotion feeling very clinical and by the numbers. Descriptions feel like a grocery list more than a description. Many of the choices aren’t real choices either. For instance if you choose not to take the crystal skull or buy a ouija board then the respective stories end right there. So is the choice not to get them really a choice if it ends the story right there ? Each story has at least one such choice. Now that being said each story also does have several choices that branch the story off properly. One thing I noticed is that most of the stories have common themes of a deceased mother and an evil spirit. When the stories are as short as they are having a common theme can make it feel overused quite fast. I played Interactive Horror Stories on Linux. The game never crashed on me. It uses the Unity engine. Alt-Tab doesn’t work. There is no save system at all. This means if you want to see how a different choice effects the story you have to replay the whole thing. While the stories are short a manual save system would make the game feel more professional as well as offer a feature that is a staple of the genre. While playing my GPU usage was between 7-14%; my VRAM usage was 521-646MB; my CPU usage was 2-5%; and my system RAM usage was 2.6-3.2GB. I didn’t notice any spelling errors at all. I think if the developer continues to work at their storytelling they will produce good work. The bones are there they just need more meat on them. The visual novel genre is a tough one to stand out in though because even though the game is free it is hard to recommend as there are lots of high quality free visual novels out there already. I finished all the stories in 67 minutes and that includes playing through certain ones multiple times. My Score: 6/10 My System: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X | 16GB DDR4-3000 CL15 | MSI RX 580 8GB Gaming X | Mesa 19.3.1 | Manjaro 18.1.5 | Mate 1.22.2 | Kernel 5.4.6-2-MANJARO

''Searchers after Horror haunt strange, far places'' - H P Lovecraft Warning for those who are sensitive (such as PTSD) or vulnerable to these scenarios - Madness in infinite loop covers disturbing topics such as: Suicide, Self-Harm & depression. Evil beneath the ground handles topics of Kidnap & Sadist Torture. Ahmet Kamil Keleş of Aslam Game Studio solo-developed a choose your own adventure featuring 7 compact stories that are minimalistic in their scenarios and, as a result, lack any direct emotive story-telling purely staying factual in the stories content while offering multiple endings based off choices given. It definitely suits a Reader who wants quick playtime that isn't complex or challenging to complete; in fact all 7 stories can be fully completed through all branches in under 1-2 hours at most while skim-readers will easily complete in less than an hour. The background art to the stories is stylishly designed and helps visualise the events within the stories and, while it does make use of brief sound effects, there is no BGM used at all. I personally feel that this is Interactive Horror Stories biggest downfall as BGM really aids in immersing the Reader into the stories and creates a mood to the tales that should not be undervalued. See comments for updated response The stories themselves range from possession, gothic horror, manic depressive mental health, death, kidnap/torture, murder/suicide and 2 tales based upon the Crystal Skull folklore though the history isn't touched upon purely the tale reactions from the use of the Crystal Skull. The multiple choices are simplistic in discovering the branching outcomes and there are Achievements added that unlock for each stories scenarios with a useful feature telling you how many endings are possible in the story. For me, this is what makes or breaks the quality to this collection of stories as some Readers may go into this hoping for story depth, emotional attachment, shock horror and/or memorable poetic prose yet this is neither of those. Instead, it is a variety of snack-size stories that would satisfy a coffee-break quick-play that is neither taxing to solve or challenging to absorb. It is also worth saying that it is written by a Turkish developer so English is a 2nd language and there are noticeable errors but none that make the stories difficult to understand. I did struggle in deciding if to rate up/down and feel a neutral rating would completely suit this free to play game as it doesn't contain anything that is ground breaking in its design, horror themes or its writing, if anything it benefits Achievement Hunters as well as Readers who aren't after anything technical purely a quick-fix in shlock horror! So, even though I down-rate this title, it does have an audience it will appeal to if they seek out this immediate style of reading content. ~~~Liked what you see? Played through all the stories and got all the outcomes was rather enjoyable the stories aren't long and their not all crazy unique in anyway but they're all pretty good if you'd rather listen then read here's my video with all the stories and outcomes: https://youtu.be/IHBE3ML_K9I
The stories were a lot more "frightening" then I expected, but still lacked a quality story to fully enwrap myself into. There was also less interactions to the story then I expected. Overall a good story to waste time on.

TW: Rape. Aside from the sometimes rough translations, the stories were often repetitive. And as another reviewer mentioned, some of the options are just dead ends - which is common in 'choose your own adventure' type of books but this really felt like you were being shepherded in one direction - choose wrong and start over from the beginning again. Some mysteries are unsolvable which is frustrating. I really wanted to like this game, but it was tedious to play, then replay to see what the different options would be. And there's a part in one of the stories when you piss off an evil spirit and it tells you it will rape your pretty wife's corpse and then the game goes on to sort of describe what that would look like as it presumably happens. Unnecessary and insensitive - it just seemed thrown in to try to shock the player. The writing needs to be polished up (we don't need a pronunciation guide for the word "Ouija" in the middle of the story...) and the stories would be better served with bigger branching options and a bigger varieties of main characters and back stories... most have you playing as a widow taking care of your child. Has potential if revamped and rewritten.
İlk hikayesinde biraz ümit vadettiğini düşünmüştüm fakat sonrasında çok basit bir hal aldı. Sonları ve hikayeleri birbirine benzeyip tekrar etti. Netflix'in korku filmleri gibi.
Interactive Horror Stories is exactly what it says on the tin. It's an easy to control visual novel type "choose your own adventure" short story game which is fairly original for a horror concept. This game very poorly resembles what it's trying to accomplish. The graphics are really cheesy. The sound effects are off. The gameplay isn't fun. The most important part, which is the story, is absolute garbage. It sounds like it was written on DeviantArt. The difficulty was just embarassing. The game has absolutely no replay value. I did not enjoy this at all, I couldn't stomach finishing it. 3/10
