Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I had been keeping my eye on this game, hoping somebody would review it. I hate refunding games and this one looked too mysterious from the description and the video. I wasn't sure what exactly the game was. Sadly, the best way to describe this game is just lazy. There really is nothing to it. There's like 10 different scenes or so and they all play exactly the same. There's no story. No reason. Just slow motion, bullets flying everywhere, you teleport around, shoot baddies, try not to get hit. There's a generic western theme here, there's a generic office theme there. There's just no point to any of it. This is simply a tech demo. Someone completely new to VR might enjoy this. I also experienced some graphical issues, where graphics seemed blurry or curved. Kind of a wobbly effect. Rate 3/10. This should be a free to play game. Charging $9.99 is crazy. That store description you give borders on false advertising ... I'd love to play that game, but this game isn't that.

Infinite Vector is a free to play VR shooter game using voxel graphics. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Teleport is the VR movement mode. You have to reload your weapons by dropping empty and grabbing new one. At one time this was a paid product, now it is free to play. It got an interesting slow motion effect going as you play. Challenging. Maybe ten different level to visit. Game graphics are voxel, so looked like minecraft textures and models. Try this game, you might like it.
This game has no Notice about being VR only :/

would not work on the pico 4, was glitching and shutting down after 30 seconds

"Infinite Vector" is a godawfully low quality VR tech demo that seems to exist for two reasons. First, to see if you really can burn $100 by publishing garbage on Steam Direct so you can call yourself a game developer, and secondly, to see if anyone would be dumb enough to pay $10 for that garbage. The answer was "yes" for the first one and "no" for the second one. What do you do in the game? This VR tech demo has you waving your arms around in VR to beat up bad guys, catch bullets and projectiles and lob them back at the hideously, hilariously low quality assets (I really hope they aren't flipped... imagine deciding to make an asset flip and then plagiarising the worst assets you could find... that would explain this mess, anyway). This comes across as something unambitious and "simple" in terms of implementation and technical quality and depth, more like a game dev tutorial or an experiment. It’s a classic case of a developer prioritizing the low effort needed to get a game listed on Steam over the actual delivery of a technically sound or compelling product. Whatever is needed to hammer out something "good" enough for Steam Direct self-publishing. This features lazy low-polygon voxel "Minecraft"-like "art", making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. A lot of amateur developers see Minecraft's success and assume it's because it looks bad, not because it had unique and appealing game mechanics, and they try to emulate the success without understanding it. It also happens to be easy, and doesn't need any proper talent in terms of game development/graphic artists etc. That's why reviewers are faced with so many of these terrible games with confrontingly bad graphics. Developers must learn that Minecraft succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all. Imagine a game so bad that it was made VR exclusive, in the hopes that would prevent people playing it and comparing it to professionally developed games. This game is fairly dated at 8 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. A peak of 2 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. This "free" game won't count toward your game collection count on your profile. With that in mind, is it something you should still download? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. I didn't pay money, but I still feel ripped off.
