Infinite Mana is a fantastic love letter to old school RPG's from the 90's and early 2000's and captures the essence of what made them good, but also is updated with the reasonable quality of life things you'd expect from current day games. The game has variable difficulties that allow you to experience it differently depending on your challenge needs, and combat is fluid and quick. You can see the inspiration of various games culminate in a solid RPG experience, and there are plenty of easter eggs to make you chuckle or point at the screen like AYYYY. Loving it so far. Lots of potential.
its a great game. If I had to break it down by story, game-play, character cast, theme, and design. I would definitely consider this a masterpiece-in-the-making. However, the area i feel it lacks most is the game-play. While in battle, you're given an assortment of skills to use per class (Some more efficient than others...), and some of the formulas associated with those skills either all have the same power scaling, or are just completely underwhelming. To make an example without any in-game spoilers, a basic formula for a basic attack will be (PWR*2 - END*1) ((this is perfectly fine)). This allows for you to strategically build TP (and/or recover MP) that'll afford you access to "greater damaging skills". Or so you would think... The skill formulas i'd come across, for a multitude of classes were (PWR*3(4) - END*2). The issue posed is going through the tedium of acquiring new classes just for them to be outclassed by or comparable to the starting classes. Another example; a specific starter class has an attack that "hits 3 random enemies" for a cost of 14 MP, whilst also having access to a PASSIVE MP recovery skill...while the other more complex class to acquire, has a skill that does the same thing, EXCEPT it costs 10 MP and 25 TP w/ no passive MP recovery (unless you do another specific thing i will not spoil).... Their formulas are both (PWR*3 - END*2). To continue further, there's another starting class that outmatches all classes simply due to its access to "6" primary skills that have a (INT*4 - WIT*2) formula, has a passive skill that activates 1 chosen skill of the 6 primary skills TWICE when used for whopping cost of 8 MP.... (''-__-) Now I will attest, there are certain skills acquired that have spectacular formulas, and you'll know which ones im referring to because you'll feel like you hit a singular (or group of) monsters like a truck, somewhat. None that i will disclose but, majority of skills held underwhelming formulas that diminished the urge to continue playing. Im simply tired of gaining levels, playing for 30+ hours just to hit monsters within a new area for 300 - 600 DMG (while their HP exceeds 3000+), or being forced to exploit that one overpower class that has the ability to attack twice for the cost of 8 MP. Honestly, this is just my own personal gripe. Once again, I absolutely love every other aspect of this game. I highly recommend anyone interested to give it a try. It is genuinely amazing. I just hope that the future of this game hold some form of skill revamp (rework of formulas and refining skills for each class). To the Devs, thank you for making such a awesome game. Sorry if im criticizing to hard.
Maybe there's a good game under the extremely lackluster introduction, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about it. I figured at a first glance that it'd be something like Crystal Project, using old vibes for a fresh and interesting take on some classic gaming, but instead it really just feels like the sorts of "I just played Star Ocean"-RPGMaker projects that used to litter the internet from edge to edge. The writing is trite and tedious, at the same time generic and self-important, and I just do not give a damn about any single character I've encountered. The environments look neat, but I'm never allowed to go exploring without one of the idiots that have glommed on to me or a magic narrative voice telling me "nooooo! you have to follow the plot!!!" when I do not care about it and the plot just promises more mediocre dialogue I have to read that I would rather be shot with a nailgun than sit through another sentence of. The mechanics are simultaneously simple and overcomplicated. I never felt like I had to engage any mental gears for them, but at the same time the game drops multiple new classes and skillsets and crafting mechanics and fishing and stealing and infamy mechanics and guilds on me within the first hour. Rather than giving me one deep mechanic at a time, letting it get seated, then getting to the next mechanic, etc. instead I'm just carpetbombed with shallow mechanics. The game is also littered with graphical issues I don't think are intentional(doors often seem misaligned from tiles, the circular marker for critical hits also seems misaligned from its target icon slightly too low) and somehow, despite the content and graphical fidelity of an early 00's RPGMaker project, it manages to have(admittedly short, on an SSD) loading times just entering and leaving small house zones. This is like if Bethesda tried to make an RPGMaker game. Is this what they've been spending their time on instead of TES6? It's not a fundamentally bad or offensive game it's just a really uninspiring one. I think the worst sin is how clunky the moving is, it feels like there's a little bit of input lag on everything, even on moving through dialogue. If the game was just snappier and you replaced 90% of the dialogue with empty silence, I think I'd have been willing to give it more of my time.
This game is really really good!!! Super underrated/under spoken of. A lot of games try to emulate the old school feel while adding in modern features and this game does it with the best of them tbh. The exploration in particular is old school but in all the best ways. There are tons of directions to go and things you have to do, and the game doesnt hold your hand. But it also doesnt make it so difficult to figure out that you want to quit in frustration.
I have played this game for several hours and I already love it. The art style gives me old school RPG vibes. I’m still only in the first stage and I really like how big the forest is because I love exploring and I also love the side quests
A nice game that's in early access, that also has a hint of Final Fantasy 5 with the ability to switch classes via guises (classes). The only problem I ever had with the game so far is the lag I experienced in some parts of the game. Hopefully the rest of the game will be good as well.
Great game, Can have slight FPS issues while loading, and the "now loading" everytime you hit the world map is a little annoying, specially in this day and age, but outside of that this game is brilliant ! the job system is great * will say the menuing for it is a bit wierd but it works *. For anyone old school / rpg maker enjoyers this game is worth the shot and has a free demo like EVERY game should have , no hard in giving it a shot before u buy it !
It's not bad
I followed this game before its release in early 23rd I started playing at the first moment of release and have been playing since the chapters were updated. I just got through the main storyline and will work on various character tasks when I have time Game difficulty: It's relatively simple. The vast majority of bosses lack flash killing ability, and more are AOE type skills. As long as there is a group health regeneration skill in the team, the health will not drop too low, and no characters will die in battle. Doing main quests and Hunter Guild quests throughout the game will gain a lot of experience, and there is basically no need to level up Occupation (guise): After the main storyline is passed, there are still about 3-4 guises that have not been unlocked. The vast majority of guise skills can be learned directly through GP, and some guises are more special, such as Soul Thief, printer, and Animal Trainer. Among them, Soul Thief learns skills by directly learning enemy skills in battles. However, the problem is that if your character does not have Soul Thief's guise in battles, even if the enemy releases the skills that can be learned, this profession will not learn the corresponding skills. This requires thinking without looking at the strategy. If you want to learn all the skills of this profession, it is best to... Having a character in the lineup always carry the guise of soul thief, but the GP earned by this profession is basically useless... The skill of this guide is mainly auxiliary, but it is actually quite weak. There are many conflicting skills in other guises, such as Conjurer. Its skills include both group output and group health regeneration, which basically explodes Cleric Plot: There are two storylines. One is that the void guard has possessed the Lucifer arbiter of the Zircadian Empire, hoping to regain the power of the miss shard and destroy the world; The other is that after the destruction of the ancient Arki civilization, the ruins were excavated by the Zircadian Empire, causing corruption that threatened the entire world; The plot belongs to the ancient high-tech civilization, but later lost and transformed into a conventional world of swords and magic; The worldview is quite grand, and every city is very large, requiring a long time to explore Decryption: relatively simple, without further elaboration, basically without any difficulty
