Imaginaria is both a night watch and the night watcher. It's a military term, supposedly coming from Latin, Imaginarius: relative to a mental figure. Perhaps because under Imaginaria duty the mind likes to wander too. Here in Antarctica we do them since the incident. And tonight I am Imaginaria.

This is a short low-fi text adventure set on a base in Antarctica. You play a resident whose job it is to inspect all the buildings and ensure they're not on fire. The game lasts about an hour. Look, I think if you're seeing this store page and reading this review you already understand that this is a small labour of love by a tiny team, and you're already going to be sympathetic to the fact that it's short. I'm basically here to say that I found the writing interesting and engaging, oddly scientific. Maybe the way that I'd put it is that it's more like learning what a day in the life at an Antarctic base would be. You learn about special Antarctic-approved jet fuel, and about all sorts of technical things (computers, generators, clothing, internet in Antarctica, cultural life on the base). To me this was pretty interesting. I was left wondering if someone who worked on the game had either worked in Antarctica or else had perhaps read and adapted from a first-person account. That kind of detail is uncommon in amateur text adventures/visual novels, and so I appreciated it here. The other thing I'd add is that I really think the one-and-a-half-bit graphics (the game is white and black with no dithering, but occasional blue-ish pixels for accents) work well, and the font was cute, and basically the whole thing was a nice little package, even the ambient sounds worked. I'm seeing 3 user reviews and I wanted to add my voice because I hope the dev is able to keep making games as a hobby and keep exploring things that they find interesting. :)
Very story driven adventure with some simplified pixelart Interactive objects (on top part) give you more details about the environment/storyline Lots of areas to check & explore! Funny little details & objects, story as well has it's funny moments Can't really compare it to nowadays or big adventures games for sure it has a really old classic vibe, which is nice if you are into that kind of games!
Cool window to the life on the Antarctic station. It has the harsh, cold poetry. I would definitely be interested in longer, more detailed excursion.
This was such a lovely experience! It was educational and calming, with an interesting world to explore! It was short, but I like that, and the retro style fits it well! The fact its based off real life experience in Antarctica makes it even better! Definitely recommend!
Imaginaria is a short game where you explore an antarctic science station. It combines walking simulator and point & click elements, but the game side of it is light as you only have a handful of choices to make. It's more of a fun, interesting exploration of the dev's experience.
Good, but short.
Loved it! it is somewhat calming to hear people who do incredibly demanding and important jobs say things like "yeah, this ♥♥♥♥ is broken pretty much", and "the guy who operated this left, so nobody knows how it really works, but it does and nobody questions it for now". Very relatable.
A Antártida sempre me fascinou. 10/10 Maybe, one day, I too will be Imaginaria.
Neat little point and click game based on the creator's real experience. Genuinely educational too, with some optional achievements for those who care.
Love me some gud personal projects. I'm gonna make a personal project of mine some day. It's gonna be about a boy who kept playing short indie games instead of having a taking a brain surgery. He's gonna ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die.
