This VR experience is what makes me excited for VR technology and games. Being able to experience places we otherwise couldn't. This "game" allows you to either roam freely or be accompanied by an audio tour guide while exploring the artwork and history of the Sistine Chapel. There is a vast amount of knowledge that's shared in this experience. I gave my rapt attention for nearly 30 minutes before I realized I would need a great more amount of time to fully explore it. Yet I never came back because with a lack of subtitles, I found it hard to process what was being shared. That's a personal flaw of my own but they really should add subtitles to this game, and maybe a checklist of all the interactions/audio guides you can listen to. While Steam claims VR is required, it does give you the option to play it on desktop. According to other Steam reviews, playing on desktop gives you the option to zoom in, a feature that's missing for some reason in VR.
this is better than fighting crowds in real life. i would really have liked a tour in italian with subtitle options in other languages. thank you for this experience!

This is a Fantastic VR Experience. High quality 3D scan of the chapel. Everything is in room-scale inside the headset. The ability to get up close to each part of Michelangelo's paintings is great. There is also some really well done voiced history/backstory for each part of the painting you point at/take a look at. The presenter is passionate and engaging. Takes about 45 minutes to get through everything on offer (assuming you aren't just gawking at the paintings in silence for several minutes like I was.) Folks who don't want to listen to all of the narrated experiences on offer, or soak in each of the works of art for several minutes, may zip through in 15 minutes. I played this with a 3090ti and a PSVR2 headset with PC adapter and had no issues. I would absolutely love more educational/historical VR experiences for art/history/architectural sites like this. The team that put this together really did a great job, and really set a high water mark/example for what others should strive to do in the space with similar "no frills" experiences. My hope is that VR keeps evolving and becoming more affordable for mass adoption. Exhibition halls, art galleries, museums with rotating exhibitions throughout the year (and ability to tour through with other people), are absolutely screaming for modern VR experiences. Imagine controlling a real Time lapse of a historical place, with important events playing out inside the space, and visible changes to the structure, art, the clothes, mannerisms of speech of the people throughout time. A controllable time lapse of the history of the people coming and going from a place and the impact they had, or the place had on the culture of the times. This is what future modern VR experiences should strive for. This team gave me a small taste, and hope for the future of VR as a successful medium for engaging historical/edutainment experiences.
I was deeply moved by this effort, and I am an atheist! This program is now several years old, but what a revelation it is. There is simply no way that I will ever be going to the real Sistine Chapel and so the opportunity this affords is incredible. The painstaking attention to detail by the developer of this software is hard to aptly describe, so just download this free program and behold for yourself. It is great flat, but so much better in VR that I can truly say it is the best VR tour of anything I have ever experienced. Several older comments have complaints about VR operations with the Rift and other headsets. I own a Quest 2 and there are no such problems that I can find. Only the right-hand controller seems to be recognized and so all operations use that in VR. You will get used to the interface very quickly, and using your "paintbrush" with the "A" button to toss yourself all over, up and down through the chapel, even up to sing with the choir. Depending on your available mapped floor space you can walk around. You can rise to the scaffolding that Michelangelo himself used, or use a modern scissor lift to move about the chapel for close-up views of it's wonders. My only complaint is that I have failed to find a way to raise/lower the lift to get better views of the middle wall sections of the chapel, but that may just be user error. I will update this review if I figure that out. Throughout, there are hours of recorded narration providing information about the controversial restoration effort and each separate work found on the ceiling and walls of the Sistine Chapel. Just point the paintbrush at the artwork and pull the trigger. Michelangelo 's Sistine Chapel in VR remains a monumental achievement in 2023 and you owe it to yourself to download and experience it. It is itself a modern day work-of-art.
A hesitant thumbs up, because it would not launch in VR mode on Quest 3. However, in standard mode on the PC it seemed like a cool experience... walk around and take in the Sistine Chapel as if you were actually there.
Una delle migliori esperienze gratuite in VR. L'interattività è migliorabile e i controlli minimali. Da far provare a chi non ha mai usato la VR e un must have per chi ama l'arte.
moving is a bit wonky (press A on quest controller) and i don't even know how to move the cart, but none the less, very enjoyable tour.
Bastante interessante para o uso nas aula de história do Renascimento.
