Before his flock's migration, Ika the Woodpecker lost his ability to fly. He is forced to do the impossible - walk the migration path. Hope emerges when he discovers a magical child of a long extinct species. Craft, climb, and solve puzzles to overcome obstacles as a duo in this puzzle-platformer.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
About
Join Ika and the Creature on their season-spanning trek through the Migration Path!
This colorful puzzle-platformer features 60 levels of puzzle-box challenges that are sure to test your wit -- and your platforming abilities!
Set in the serene nature of a post-post-apocalyptic American countryside, this world has long forgotten humanity -- until Ika the Woodpecker discovers a lone child on his trek south for the Winter.
CONTROLLER RECOMMENDED! - All common controllers are supported.
Ika was the Captain of his flock - an ace flyer, skilled archer, and role model for the fledglings under his tutelage. Days before his flock's annual migration, he was severely injured on a scouting mission, resulting in the loss of his left wing. Flightless, he was abandoned by his people as they fled Winter's bitter grasp.

On his unprecedented perilous trek, Ika discovers a child of an unfamiliar breed. He quickly finds the Creature is capable of magical feats, allowing him to progress far further than he ever could alone.

Alone, they are powerless. But together, the duo can surmount any obstacle in their way.
Ika serves as the duo's muscle -- he is responsible for the platforming and item use in the game. While his loss of a wing resulted in his inability to fly, he can still jump and use his good wing to clear obstacles.

The Creature is nimble and dexterous -- he is able to climb vines to reach greater heights and can fit in small spaces. But his small stature means he's unable to jump, and his weak arms prevent him from using the items that the duo craft.

When the duo is united, they unlock the ability to craft items by combining the items they possess. Ika and the Creature can each hold one item, and combining them allows them to craft a new item to overcome obstacles in their path. There are dozens of combinations to discover and experiment with!

The Creature has magical abilities that allow him to channel the things he eats into elemental power - use this ability wisely!

Wielding the elements results in many new possible items to craft. Try to find all the combinations!

Every level will give you a Star Ranking depending on how fast you beat it. This puts your puzzling abilities and your reflexes to the test to truly show your mastery!
Enable the Timer in Options to keep track of your Star Progress in real time.
Play your fastest to unlock every Star!

P.S. My best speedrun of the game is 56:26, try to beat that!

*Ika's Odyssey* is like if a woodpecker got a flat tire on his way to the family reunion and decided to take a detour through the land of puzzles! You play as Ika, who lost his ability to fly, which means he’s now stuck hopping around like a bird that’s just realized it forgot how to flap. As you navigate this colorful world, you’ll be solving puzzles that make you feel like a genius one minute and completely clueless the next. “Wait, how do I climb this tree? Is there a cheat code for this?” It’s a wild mix of crafting and climbing, and Ika’s sass is the real MVP. He might be flightless, but that doesn’t stop him from throwing shade at every obstacle in his way! And let’s not forget his sidekick, a magical kid who’s been hanging out with extinct species. Talk about an odd couple! Together, they tackle challenges like a buddy cop duo, but instead of fighting crime, they’re just trying to figure out how to get home without getting lost in a maze of trees. So, if you’re in the mood for a game that combines hilarious bird antics with head-scratching puzzles, grab your controller and help Ika on his quest. Just remember: no flying means more hopping, and more hopping means more giggles at Ika’s expense!

"Ika's Odyssey" is not the worst 2D retro pixel platformer on Steam, but it is a 2D retro pixel platformer... one of literally thousands of amateur platformer efforts infesting steam and offering little to no value to anyone. Are people not aware that 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid 1990's with cards like the Voodoo3 and ATI Rage? No? I guess not everyone got the memo. What do you do in the game? There's puzzle solving elements to this platformer, which does feature at least a little more polish than most of them, but still has too much pixelcrap "art". There's no prizes for being pretty tall for a midget. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

not worth the time
