Warning: Broken Game! This game has design/implementation defects that will render this unplayable for many gamers. The game crashes on launch on the latest Windows 10/11 builds. The developer is aware of the problem and has decided not to fix it.
"iGrow Game" is a broken attempt to make an "ooh it's edgy" drug dealer/grower game set in the UK where it's illegal to do such things. I mean, I guess it wouldn't be much of a game if they set it in a place where growing is legal. Anyway, bad idea implemented terribly and ultimately abandoned as a broken, bug ridden mess. Despite not being in Steam Early Access (where this arguably belongs), the game is missing features and is apparently incomplete, with game breaking defects (like crashing on launch) unaddressed by the developer. Due to the lack of meaningful progress from the developer, it's unlikely the game will be completed at all, yet the developers reprehensively have their hand out for money for an incomplete game. This is a good reason for gamers to avoid this. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the video game library/engine, DX Studio Player. It's rarely used, because it's arguably worse than construction kits like GameMaker Studio, RPGMaker and Clickteam Fusion, but it's also much harder to work with. Despite this, DX Studio Player has very limited capabilities, which go some way to explaining the poor quality of the game. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. Unethically, the developers have left this on the Steam store in an unplayable and broken state. It's the responsibility of the developer to maintain their product, ensure it runs on all modern PCs, or if they determine there's defects and the game doesn't work, they should remove it from sale instead of misleadingly trying to scam gamers into buying knowingly defective products. This is harmful to Steam and to gamers, not just because it's a direct and intentional attempt to scam people, but because it takes a share of the marketing space and visibility away from other games. It's polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuine games and for genuine indie developers who put months or years into making proper games find an audience. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? The developer is deliberately and unethically trying to scam gamers into paying them the completely unrealistic cash grab price of $1 USD for a game they know is broken. Don't give it to them.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer first whines that they are not a scammer. Knowingly trying to profit from the sale of defective products, which the developer is doing here, can absolutely be seen as scamming. Admitting that he has not properly maintained the game, the developer persists in selling it for profit. Despite knowing that (some, or possibly all, it's not my job to determine just how far reaching this broken software goes) users can't even play the broken game, the developer arrogantly and farcically insists it's "polished". Is that some kind of joke? Or insult? Indeed, the developer seems to think this trashware is far more powerful than the game engine can handle. And nothing to do with it being badly made! Delusion. The developer acknowledges that despite being "highly polished" the game is imperfect, then attacks me for "not making games" (if only he knew). The developers arrogant insinuation here is that unless you are a Michelin star chef, you cannot comment on the quality of a rotten burger from McDonalds. Another insult. The developer then admits, astonishingly, that the game is abandoned (hat hung up), and worse, that they never properly tested the game at all! And yet they persist in trying to sell this broken, defective software for profit. Not so abandoned if they are trying to scam people into buying a game they didn't test properly. Try that with a piece of industrial machinery and you could be facing jail time. I hope this developer is never involved in any vocation that may put people at risk. The developer has all the facts in front of them... their game has trading cards, costs less than the potential sale of foil trading card drops, and has 7 hours average playtime, which is the amount of time it takes to idle out the trading cards, yet through sheer incompetence is unable to put two and two together and understand why I pointed out this broken trashware is just getting idled for the cards. Finally the developer goes on to arrogantly advertise his profit making ventures (website where he pushes Russian HTML asset flips) while his breach of Valve guidelines does absolutely nothing to address any of the facts or findings of my review, which stands unaltered. It's not just me. A mixed 54% review score on Steam is absolutely disastrous. When the game worked, it was a bug ridden disaster (read other reviews if unsure). The positive reviews are all "joke" reviews or ASCII art explaining how the game cures cancer and saves marriages. My review simply echoes the facts and public perceptions. A blend of ignorance and arrogance explains this disaster. Incompetence is no excuse for such unethical behaviour. Buyer beware. Edit: More BS from this developer. He's pretending people bought his broken game, which can't be played, for reasons other than it costs less than the trading cards can sell for. Why is the developer being so deliberately dishonest? My review contains no falsehoods, the developer seeks to throw shade to hide his guilt. The developer still doesn't know that people are using a card idler (which takes 5-8 hours) to get the cards from this. Nobody actually plays it. Bizarre the developer doesn't understand basic facts about Steam (and yet seems to think he's the only one who knows anything about game development... the fact he's still trying to scam people into buying a broken game belies that). Is the developer so delusional he actually thinks people are playing such a broken game?

Snoop Dogg & Nate Dogg
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3611529199 P. S. 2x.
