365 days... and for what?
Idle Biceps is a simple idle game where you well, build your biceps. Basically, you lift the weight to gain mass and reps, which then goes towards your growth bar, once the bar is full, you reach a new growth level, and the threshold increases. You then do that over and over, till you can't no more. After you gain growth levels, you are then able to ascend, and are granted ascension points based on your growth level, which can be invested into permanent upgrades to make starting over a lot quicker. There are also supplements you can take, which instantly increase your growth bar based on which you take. You can upgrade how much you lift, and how many reps you do per second, but after a certain point in the game, none of the upgrades matter, as the growth level up threshold stops increasing, so you basically gain levels at a fixed rate. The global leaderboards are basically a showcase of who has left their game open the longest. I will say, I do enjoy the music, even if it does become repetitive real fast. Apart from that, the gameplay is really, REALLY uninteresting. Idle games have their repetitive elements, but this just feels unrewarding and dissatisfying, especially considering one of the achievements requires you to open the game every day, for a whole year. 365 days, yup. Look, I get it, going to the gym is an extremely monotonous activity, and you will only start to see progress after a very long time, but opening a game, for about five seconds daily, is just not remotely pleasant. You could probably get every other non-login-based achievement in like a week, so why make us spend 358 days opening the game, just to close it immediately, it simply doesn't make any logical sense. I discovered this game through DangerouslyFunny, and it really looked like a lot of fun, but playing it myself, I found it to be really shallow, so unfortunately, as far as idle games go, I cannot recommend it.

I like idle games, and I am willing to play a lot of them even if they're not great. Usually there's charm and polish. I waited until completing this one to make the review - why? I don't really have a good reason. I kept hoping maybe some form of hidden progress I hadn't reached yet would reveal itself. It never did. This game is incredibly shallow with 6 upgrades. 2 of which you probably won't even use, and 1 which maxes out super early. So you end up with 3 useful upgrades. There are prestige mechanics, but they're just as shallow - in essence only a few of them really do anything. It's to the point where I didn't actively play this game basically at all. I just launched and closed it and got everything completed doing that for 365 days. Yes, you read that right, it takes 365 days of opening this game for an achievement. I guess at the end of the day I'm disappointed there's not even a single extra mechanic or two. I'm not saying every idle game needs to be layers and layers deep like Antimatter dimensions. But just...some form of fun being present at all would have been nice.
OVERVIEW: An enjoyable Incremental Clicker game. Each time you reach a growth level during a run you earn a point. These points can be spent after each Ascension to buy and level-up Power-Ups. Any unused points carry over for future Ascensions. Core Power-Up Categories: Supplements & Nutrients: Purchased using Volume and Rep Points. These include core bodybuilding additions such as Protein Shakes, Pre-workout, Creatine, and Steroids. Each provides exponential boosts to your lifting progression and muscular growth. You have the option to use such things in batches of 1, 10, or 100. Use 100 Steroids at once to see you fly through the Growth Levels. Gym Bros & Technique: Using Ascend Points, you can hire "Gym Bros" and level up your lifting Technique (e.g., better grip, faster reps, finger strength) to automate progress and earn heavy volume multipliers. Ascension Power-Ups: Sacrificing your current growth resets your gains in exchange for Ascend Points, which are permanently invested into permanent damage, click multipliers, and growth modifier. SUPPLEMENTS: Meat & Protein Shakes: Unlocked at early stages to boost your overall muscle growth rate and efficiency. Pre-Workout & Creatine: Provide significant boosts to your repetition speed and volume generation. Steroids: Unlocked at higher stages (such as stage 4), these provide a massive, temporary boost to your growth. Salt: Gives a huge boost in both speed of Reps and Points earned. Why it is snorted into the nose is beyond me. Whenever you see a nose appear somewhere on-screen with a snorting sound accompaniment click on that nose quickly before it disappears. In the Ascension section you can spend points that will either increase the duration of the affects of the Salt, or increase the amount of Points that you earn while it is active. WARNING: This game contains drug use, if you consider such things as Steroids to fall in that category. ACHIEVEMENTS: There are many. You may find it odd at first glance, as I did, that there are Achievements for both USING Steroids and for NOT using them. This is actually doable. Make it through an entire run through Growth 100 without using Steroids and you will earn that Achievement. Once you've done that if you use Steroids just one time you will earn the Steroids use Achievement. Make sure that you earn the Achievement for NOT using Steroids before you go for the Achievement USING Steroids. Once you use them you can't go back. MODS: There are a lot of them (they are free of course) and can be combined. There are even music track mods. I have a few of them myself. Several players have asked the developer to alter the game so that a player can switch between the default male grunting and heavy breathing sound to that of a female. He has stated that he is leaving that up to the modding community. Dumbbells have a large selection of Mods to choose from. You can select a different Dumbbell for each Bro. Arm skin tones available through Mods are (the Default is White) Black, Red, and Green (for that Hulk look). You can assign a different Arm color and Dumbbell to each Bro. DEVELOPER: He has several games under his belt and I own them all. He is very responsive to questions. STEAM DECK: Compatible
this game is a basic but very fun idle game, here's my review: it's a small game that can be completed in like 20 to 40 hours but it can easily be enjoyed for more than 100 hours, the art style and sound design reminds me of flash games which i personally love, the mechanics is like most idle/clicker games, nothing bad to say about it. only thing i don't like is the lack of content in the end game, after you have done everything there's really just one or two things to do and that's grinding and or getting all the achievements but the developer is busy with other projects so it's understandable ( the developer is an amazing person in general and interacts with fans and also seems to be very active in the community ) one thing i really love is the ability to make your own skins, upload them or use skins made by other people, it's simple to do and can be easily done by anyone. if you like simple idle games with basic mechanics then i 100% recommend this wonderful game, the developer has other idle games that seem to be amazing as well and i plan to buy more of his games. review told short: flash game graphics and audio, simple but fun mechanics, amazing developer, custom skins, lacks end game content but its still fun. 7/10
The game is fun, but it doesn’t offer enough to keep the experience fresh, so it gets boring after just a couple of hours. At the moment, I wouldn’t recommend it. I hope future updates will add new content and variety.
Hmm... A Most Exhilarating Game.
