I'm on Sorority Duty

At the time of me writing this there is only one review for this game which is.. negative. It was written near the release of the game where it states the game had some bugs/issues & felt somewhat empty but overall there was little reward to playing it. I did not play this game as soon as it launched, but rather bought it a few weeks later. Now that I've played it I feel now that review poorly represents how funny and charming this game actually is. Now I'm a big fan of Spectral Doe's other games/projects and have been highly anticipating them for quite some time now (Stay, Ripley & Suffocate). It should be said that this is not one of the games I was expecting. As it says in the credits when you boot up the game this is meant to be a more laid back game that the creator made in their down-time working on their other more serious projects. It isn't meant to be some sort of commentary on society or a deeply philosophical game (which this creator is known for), it is just a stupid silly time. If you're not interested in that, then no this game would not be for you. However, I like games of all kinds and as I said before I love Spectral Doe's games! I've been obsessed with their other title 'Stay' since I played it and have kept up with the creator since. Even if this game has a massively different vibe I was willing to play it, even if only to support the creator. I have not played any "find the anomaly" type games before this game, but still I bought my own copy and booted it up. This game is funny, it just is. It's funny. The charm this game brings is not in its gameplay but the humor between the characters and the dumbass things the bro-shadows say. I was expecting some kind of jumpscares from this game but instead I am greeted by shadow frat dudes doing push ups for little to no reason and THAT is the anomaly LOL? I really enjoyed listening to the interactions between Tiff & Britt too, having the hyper-femme one being voiced by a man SENT me. It's clear the creator had fun with this game, and I in turn also had fun with it. Don't even get me started on the bro-podcast. I think it's worth buying alone just to hear all the absolute dumbassery. The gameplay is par for the course for this style of game, even if I haven't personally played any of them before I have seen others play them and know how it should work. I didn't ever feel frustrated by the gameplay and the ability to change your settings at will however you'd like makes this game fun to achievement hunt and mess around in. It's not a particularly hard game, it's just a silly little fun time waster that I played in anticipation for the creator's other games. I think that is what it was meant to be, and why it may feel empty to some. I will say though I did have some minor bugs and when I messaged the creator about it they fixed them within the HOUR! Now that is some crazy support LOL! I'm always really astonished with how well this dev takes feedback and chooses to see the good in all of them. So.. What is my feedback?... I had a lot to say when it came to my review for 'Stay' their other title but it is clear that they have definitely come far in their programming and general know-how with games. I have no real negative criticism because it is just a little sweet find-the-frat-bro game while two girls argue about snorting adderalll. I do think the anomaly menu has too many options, sometimes I found it hard to figure out if something was considered "Movement" or "Other" or "Object Replaced" etc. Other than that however I just have things I think would make the game more fun! This game definitely needs more voicelines and overall character interactions/animations. The latest update/hotfix added more which I saw and found funny but I need MORE! For example I kind of hope that when the oven catches on fire in the kitchen as an anomaly it blows up the house or kills one/both of the girls in some humorous way and there is a voice line like "MY HAIR!" or something. I'd also love to see the girls interact with objects more like sitting down on the couch or getting in the bath then freaking out when it turns red, things of that nature. Maybe multiple different conversations for the same anomaly so they're random every run? If we're playing into the dumb-sorority-girl archetype then I really want it to be full sent! I would love for actual endings to be added, maybe based on how many anomalies you find/clear or the types of ones you do/don't. As I also said for 'Stay' I hope in the future there is alternate costume options too. It's always fun to replay games just to see the cosmetics you can unlock. It would bring a level of reward and replayability to the game I think people would enjoy. At the end of the day though this is just a silly game waiting on the developer's other titles, and for what it was I truly had a good time with it. I think it was worth $3, especially when I know it'll go toward funding their other games which I really do love. I'd say if you like this creator's other games and want to support them, or if you like this style of game/think the humor is funny then this is for you! I'll be waiting for your other games, Spectral! (づ｡◕‿‿◕｡)づ

Cute and quirky anomaly spotter. I've never played a game like this before and had so much more fun than I thought I would. I felt compelled to find more and more differences, some of them obvious, some of them subtle. Getting rewarded with new outfits for the protagonists seems common in today's world but it was unexpected and welcome in a lil indie game like this, appreciated attention to detail. The difficulty can be changed in the options/settings so definitely mess around with them to increase your odds or go full challenge mode.
