About

A 2D fast-paced platformer with action elements and cartoon-style graphics. As a Reptilian, you must traverse numerous levels, avoid traps, and battle enemies along the way. Your goal is to rescue your fellow tribesmen and defeat the evil corporation that seeks to enslave your home planet!
On a distant planet at the edge of the galaxy, a friendly reptilian race lived in peace. Everything was perfect until suddenly, humans from Astra Chemical Corp arrived. The corporation began mining an acid-rich mineral used as an energy source for industrial production and interstellar travel. The Reptilians were enslaved and forced to work in the mines.
However, mining soon became difficult and expensive. The corporation then found another solution—extracting acid directly from the Reptilians, as their bodies consist of 95% acid.
One brave Reptilian discovered the corporation's sinister plans and decided to stop them at any cost and save his people from extinction!
The Reptilian can run, jump, dash, wall-kick, and climb on walls and ceilings. He can attack using claws and his tail, spit acid, and bite.
Using all these abilities, you must explore levels, overcome obstacles, and avoid traps. Each level presents small challenges: find and collect all batteries, which serve as keys to doors, or defeat enemies and rescue your trapped friends.
You can choose your own approach to dealing with the sinister corporation’s soldiers—jump down from the ceiling using stealth or engage them head-on with claws or acid attacks.
Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"I am Reptile" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This is a mediocre amateur effort... frankly when I played it, because the controls were nicely responsive, I thought this might even be worth a "maybe", but then it seems the developer has acted highly unethically in a number of ways... which causes harm to gamers, developers and the industry. It makes a game unrecommendable. Read on to find out why this is an unethically created and published game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop (backgrounds, cutscene voices and other elements of the game) instead of being fully made out of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here. AI models are trained without permission on copyrighted works... so when a developer uses AI Slop, they're tacitly and indirectly contributing to intellectual property theft and copyright infringement. No ethical developer would use AI slop. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. PC gamers will be insulted by the demand from the developer that a console peasant children's toy controller should be used, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never, under any circumstances dictate to gamers how their games are to be experienced. These technical shortcomings push this game below minimum standards for any competently developed modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 7 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian, broken English or ChatGPT AI slop, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR § 465.4, 15 U.S.C. § 45), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? "I am Reptile" has the almost comically optimistic (if it wasn't so sad) price of around $6 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. For comparison, the $6 asking price for this game could get you games like "Stellaris", "Cities: Skylines" or "The Elder Scrolls Online". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
An exciting platformer in which we will take on the role of a brave reptile and go to fight for the freedom of our home planet. The game combines dynamic gameplay, vivid cartoon graphics and intense action scenes. Each level in the game is a unique challenge with a variety of locations, traps and enemies. Jumping, running, dodging and fighting enemies will require us to be agile and quick to make decisions, because each opponent has his own style and special attacks, and powerful bosses are the culmination of each level, requiring a special approach. The cartoon graphics create an atmosphere of adventure and humor, while the dynamic musical accompaniment lifts the mood and highlights the tension of the fights.
A beautiful 2D game that has just been released. The graphics are top-notch, the game even has its own plot and even a cooperative, which I tried and did not regret.
Интересная игра. Купил как только показали на "НашЫх Ыграх". Мне понравилось - прЫкольно.
A vibrant, fast-paced platformer with a cool reptilian hero! Challenging levels, creative mechanics, and a catchy soundtrack make saving your people a blast. Pure fun!
Great fun. Runs very well on Steam Deck! Perfect game for the deck. Of course that means my game time shown above is not accurate. I played for a couple hours. This is a challenge style combat platformer. Combat is made to be a bit finnicky... the way the character moves, the short range of his little attacks.... but that's on purpose. It's fun to play through and figure it out. The nice part is, similar to something like Celeste, if you die... all that happens is you restart the room. And while that can be frustrating, it's usually only a few minutes of game time. So I appreciate that. The game is super cute. I love how the little guy moves, and I love the wall crawling. Acid spitting was a great touch too. Some of the traps can be brutal... you have to watch the hit boxes carefully. At times, the character can have a bit of momentum to his movement and accidentally trigger a trap that you were just trying to inch up to. That can be frustrating... but at the end of the day I think it is part of the charm. Other than that I mean not much needs to be said... it's a room by room platformer (rooms might still have some scrolling, but they tend to be pretty short) with combat and a dash of stealth. Great little game, especially for the steam deck. Absolute recommendation from me.
Nice platformer. Repties, go forward!
