About
Cyber Engineer, Nyla, and her sister, Linh, developed a way to harness the immense processing power of the human brain to create the ultimate supercomputer. Employed by Forward Industries, they managed to transfer human consciousness to the digital space. But after trying to back out of the project, things took an unexpected turn. Held against their will, Nyla finds herself in a situation that forces her to use the technology in the very way she feared it would be.
From the beginning until one of five possible endings, you experience the entire story from the perspective of Linh's consciousness in the digital world. As Nyla's sister, you participate in the events as they unfold, enabling and enhancing the system's capabilities from within.
The selfish vs compassionate choices you make along the way will define your past while shaping your future. During various 360° flashbacks, you determine the events of the past by gazing at specific details. How it all ends and the fate of the technology is entirely up to you.
Working alongside Nyla, you resolve incomplete code sequences from within the system, scour the city to identify someone who can help you escape - even if it means exploiting their personal information to get them to comply - and discover solutions to the challenge of sneaking them into the building and hopefully to you, undetected.
Human Within combines a thrilling branching storyline with video game playability. Its blend of original storytelling and gameplay features offer players a distinct interactive experience. It differentiates itself with a unique integration of technical features that includes:
User Involvement: Experiencing the story from Linh's consciousness within a virtual internet space provides a unique way to observe the events taking place and have a level of participation unlike anything else.

Point Cloud Interactivity: Explore environments in digital recreations. These sequences serve as pace-breaking moments where users engage with the story even further, bringing a whole new degree of interactivity to the mix.

Choice and Consequence: At key moments in the story the events that take place are defined by the user's choices. These moments define how events unfolded in the past and determine how it all ends in the present.

Style Variety: The story is told across a unique combination of three distinct visual styles: The Internet Space blending 2D film and 3D graphics, Flashback Scenes with interactive 360 degree stereo film, and Point Cloud recreations with 6DoF 3D environments.

By combining a thrilling branching storyline with video game playability, Human Within blends original storytelling and gameplay features to create a one-of-a-kind interactive VR experience.

Not horribly long, but with replay ability.
Wow, what a load of cr*p. The quality of the 3D film is so poor that you quickly lose interest. I know there are limitations to this technology, so we’ll probably have to wait a few more years before it’s good enough to actually enjoy. You could also question the acting performances, at least based on the little I managed to watch. NOTE :; The controls don’t work with SteamVR. I had to switch to Virtual Desktop and set the OpenXR Runtime to VDXR. I'm using a Quest 3 headset.
Non Funziona con HTC Vive, Peccato!
VR Film. The third act picks up in pace as we see the value of watching in VR play out with all the different cameras seens similtanously on all the different screens. But there's a lot of cameras including early in the film where there's not enough going on and we feel the lack of the editing going on in the way the actors are waiting for key moments to occur. The idea of an interactive narrative always sounds good in a pitch but in reality it's always unsatisfying. I don't want to watch it all again to see it play out differently, so whatever ending I got is how I feel about the overall package when I'm reviewing it and that ending was unsatisactory. In the long run projects like this are good to exist, but we won't remember them as good forms of entertainment so much as examples of the medium trying to find it's place before anyone knew what would work. Interesting but not a milestone in the medium. https://youtube.com/shorts/d3oE7ppzf6M
That is a really nice interactive movie. It would be an ideal experience to demonstrate non gamers what VR can do. The setting is interesting, with some Minority Report and Watch Dogs wibes. This is in my experience a refined and well working product that makes great use of VR. One wrong note though : Who signed up on the low resolution blurry stereoscopic videos ? Thas is a real let down, while everything else looks really clear.
Toll gemachte Experience! Habe es jetzt also einmal durchgespielt.
First I want to say I think it has some cool components with puzzles. But the really poor 3D scenes and were soo long. I didn't want to watch a move in VR, but it felt like it with over the top acting.
The game concept sounds good, But is unplayable on steamvr (only VDXR) and we neeed a feature to watch the 3D videos on 2D.
I recommend this for experiencing the innovation in story-telling. Its a movie but it's not experienced by watching a single screen. There's multiple screens that provide background information on what's going on. It keeps you engaged. Like a reaction to streaming media's tendency to expect us to be distracted while watching movies.
