There is basically two paths you can choose from; Human and Luccretia. The first few chapters are pretty similiar but afterwards they differ a lot. I do recommend starting with the human path. It does show that the game is a bit older but it has a lovely story. pros; - beautiful japanese voice acting (even the heroine gets voiced as well as the name if you don't change it from the suggestions) - the graphics are a bit outdated but fit the visual preferences from back then - thumbs up for the humour - several fitting soundtracks - you are able to start from every chapter without needing to save neutral; - for my personal taste the cat part was sometimes a bit too much. i'm still confused at the one time where there is some constant meowing going on. Overall i would say that path is more focused on being entertaining while the human path is more focused on romance. in the end they complement each other to get more intel about the whole plot - i personally think it's a bit weird that how her personas get treated differs that much (on the one side she gets treated like an older and on the other side treated like the younger sister. kinda the heroines fault for acting so differently as in trying to overcompensate) - would have preferred a bit more variety with the LI's cons; - a lot of stuff never gets explained. there is a lot of plot you could have used that got kinda wasted. yet again, there is other parts that follow after this but they have a new main character there - on fullmode it gets a bit blurry for me For the playtime it might seem a bit overpriced but keep in mind how much it actually costs to pay for proper voice actors. Still - since I feel like they didn't use the full potential of the story, I only recommend buying it on sale.
This is also kind of a reccomendation for another series of otome games that I am possitive anyone who likes this series will also enjoy. Skip next paragraph for my actual review. This is the first of a three part series designed like the free to play Holiday Otome series by Synokoria (avaliable for download on itch.io) with each game having a separate protagonist, as well as each squeal being a continuation of the world story told throughout. This means that in the later games, the relationship from the previous game, while no longer being the focus, are still present in the story, and you can see how their relationship pogresses on the side along with each new protagonist. However not only that, but the overall narration of both series, meaning the humor, drama, angst and fluff are all similar. All of that aside, this is a very good game. Not only the graphics, but the story as well. The series only has one love interest per game, but otherwise has all the other goodies of other well-known otome games. I genuinly have nothing bad to say about this game or the series as a whole. As for if you should get the origional or remastered version, other reviews have already laid out all you need to know for you to make the decision that is right for you. Happy simping everyone!
How to Take Off Your Mask is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. I mean, we don't call reading a Choose Your Own Adventure novel "playing a game", do we? No. This is a lame dating/romance novel where you read about a cat-girl who tries to date some guy and work out why people don't like cat-girls. Probably because they are the subject of so much anime club dropout garbage like How To Take Off Your Mask. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. There's no options to change the resolution for the E-Book or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality visuals. Comically, this E-book is presented with Adobe Flash/AIR (I'm not making this up). Talk about not using the right tools for the job. Might as well try to bake a cake with a screwdriver. The extremely poor choice of E-reader engine here is a major contributing factor to the defects with the E-Book. You can get better quality books and comics for free online or from public libraries, or from bookstores for a fraction of the price of this "game". Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games.

A cute coming-of-age story about learning to be honest about your feelings to the people you care about via the narrative device of waking up one day as a catgirl.
How to Take Off Your Mask est le premier visual novel d'une trilogie.
Conclusion ?
super cute game, my favorite from the series ^w^
This game - I know, I know - why would a gamer like myself have a soft spot for this visual novel series? It makes me laugh. It's honestly cheesy at times and the date of when it was made shows. But I watched Dodger play this awhile back, never finish, and then I saw it in a Fanatical bundle. So I grabbed it. If you want a laid back story to unwind on after playing a grueling FPS or triple A game this is the one for you.
This is an alright visual novel. There are plenty of better options available though.
