Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 28 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
How To Hack In? is a systems-driven hacking sandbox played through your own simulated workstation.
Each new game creates a world of people, companies, networks, websites, relationships, vulnerabilities, and secrets. What you find in one place can be useful somewhere else. That might mean using personal details for social engineering, trying exposed credentials against company systems, or compromising software used by other businesses.
Follow the connections, combine what you learn, and find your way in.

NPCs have personalities, relationships, routines, and conflicts. Learn about them through social posts, files, transactions, and other information scattered across the world.
The Profiler brings those discoveries together into dossiers. Map relationships, identify useful hooks, connect people to digital assets, and use what you know to find opportunities that technical tools alone would miss.

Gather information through websites, social media, email, files, network scans, and personal dossiers. Then choose your approach:
Crack credentials and explore internal networks.
Scan for vulnerable services and move between connected machines.
Find and exploit vulnerabilities in websites and admin panels.
Profile targets, uncover Weak and Strong hooks, and choose from phishing, vishing, pretexting, bribery, or leverage.
Route connections through compromised machines and clean up logs when you are done.
Build visual scripts to automate repeatable tasks.
An operation can be technical, social, financial, or a mix of all three.

Companies have suppliers, clients, competitors, code repositories, products, infrastructure, and economic health.
Compromise the software they use and carry out supply-chain attacks. If the incident reaches the news, it can damage the company's reputation and affect its stock price.
Rent remote servers, host websites, build command-and-control infrastructure, and manage agents across compromised systems.

Trade stocks and cryptocurrency, trace transactions, and investigate scam operations - or take them over yourself. Access an underground marketplace through Tor to buy or sell intelligence, hooks, and recovered artifacts.
Choose what to do with the information you uncover. Expose wrongdoing, help a victim, use evidence as leverage, manipulate stock prices, or profit from a criminal operation.

Assign custom shortcuts to individual app windows and switch between floating and tiling modes. Save configurations of open apps, then reload your preferred layout whenever you need it. Build reusable workflows with Visual Scripting.
Develop your preferred playstyle through the Skill Tree. Your CPU, RAM, and connectivity determine what your workstation can handle, while money, tools, and access determine which paths are open to you.
Start with a tour of the workstation, use the searchable Wiki for quick reference, and turn to Guided Mode or Hackopilot when you need more specific guidance. Interactive Academy lessons teach key systems by letting you use them.
A good hacker simulator with a lot of potential.
Pros: 1. Smooth and beautiful UI (special thanks for 21:9 resolution support) 2. interesting quests 3. The hacking process is not bad (personally I would have liked more of a challenge) You can play without any knowledge of programming or working with linux systems 4. A lot of different hacking tools 5. The music in the game is also good 6. The game is well executed for early access Cons: 1. The hacking process is very simplistic (as far as I can tell after one hour of play), so it gets boring quickly. [strike] 2. Web - site pages are often broken and content is displayed incorrectly (huge blocks do not fit in the viewport, missing or duplicated scrollbar, etc.) 3. There are issues related to the terminal: Text cannot be selected and copied Commands do not accept path, you always need to go to the directory and execute the command (for example, rm or cat) Lack of auto - complete for the path when pressing TAB (it works only in the upper level, for example, with the name of a file in a directory). [/strike] Fixed by patch 26/09/2023 00:19 Globally, these are minor things. In the end, I want to say that the game has the potential to become a great and immersive hacker simulator. Roadmap looks really impressive. Let's hope that the developer will have enough motivation and income to bring the game to perfection. Best of luck!

Note: I'm a cybersecurity professional and do ethical hacking as part of my job, so I'm always interested to try new hacking sims, but you should know my review will probably be colored a bit by my job. My main takes from the couple hours I've spent in this game so far:

Has the potential to be awesome; I've been looking for a semi-realistic hacking simulator that didn't hold your hand all the time and that was more freeform/open-ended. This seems to be the first one I've ever found that accomplishes that or has that as a goal.
Is actually pretty hard, there's not a lot of guidance (this was a plus for me but I could see that being a negative for others). I got pretty excited when I started the game and was presented with a desktop interface...and no tutorial. :chef-kiss: this was exactly what I wanted, and I had to figure out how to use the tools in the game.
The game is actually decently realistic; most of the tools are based on real tools, and they didn't change the command syntax to the point of being obnoxious if you've used the real tools (looking at you, Anonymous Hacker Simulator). Some things are simplified (obviously) but in a way that didn't make me roll my eyes. Nice job, devs.
This game is ridiculously buggy, but IMO that's okay for v0.26 or whatever it's on currently. But know going in that you will hit bugs. Most of them are very minor, and the only really game breaking one I've hit is that sometimes the CLI suddenly stops taking commands and just prints the command I input over and over again (yes, I checked the syntax). This usually happens after loading a save. I haven't found a way to fix it without restarting. Restarting here meaning wiping my save and starting over again. Tbh I don't care that much because the game is fun and I'm sure this and other bugs will get fixed, but you should be aware.
In the unlikely event that the devs actually see this review and pay attention to it, here's a wishlist of things I'd love to see:

Snapping windows - This was my biggest complaint about the interface; on Linux, Windows, and Mac this is built in or easily configurable. Basically, when I drag a window to the side of the screen I want it to auto maximize to just that half of the screen. Please. I beg you. Manually resizing the windows is so annoying lol
Give us an alt+tab replacement to cycle between windows - obviously it probably can't be actually alt-tab but it'd be nice to have a similar keyboard shortcut
Allow us to take on multiple jobs at one time; not sure if the fact that only a single job can be accepted at once is related to how the procgen works but it is really a bummer. It also leads to situations where I'm interested in a mission but end up realizing I don't have enough money to buy a tool I need, and then having no option but to cancel the mission in order to take on other missions so I can earn money to buy the tool. But at that point the original mission is gone forever which sucks.
TL;DR Fun but buggy game that will be really awesome someday if the devs stick it out. If dealing with some Early Access bugs don't bother you, this is definitely worth the asking price. If they do, maybe wait a bit for the bugs to get ironed out. But buy it because I want the devs to have enough funding to finish it lol
The game doesn’t require any programming skills so it is friendly for beginners 🙂 game is stable I haven’t met major bugs during playtrough Pros: - immersive gameplay (Police events, higher risk of getting caught in certain hours) - interesting quests - overall graphics and audio are well done in game, really nice UI - possibility of buying new hacking tools from shop - money system Cons: - minor bugs (tabs visibility issues) - lack of copy paste system which would be really helpful during hacking Despite the game being in early access it is already showing great potential, development goals are impressive, let’s hope that it can be achieved!
This is a really fun game, one of the better in the genre that has a ton of potential! This being in early access, you may come across a bugged mission - but the devs are extremely attentive and get fixes out faster than most. The game doesn't hold your hand, and you will need to figure out your own point of access with the information you gather based on the missions that are given. Dev team is very friendly, and listens to your feedback - both good and bad. Definitely worth your time and money if you're like me and looking for a new experience in hacking simulation games!
Not very intuitive. It is advertised that it is for folks that have no experience but after the tutorial it kind of leaves you in the dark with how to use the different tools. Also, I recognize this is the nature of the setting of the game, but the adult content seems unnecessary. I think you can get the same point across without being explicit. I was interested in an interactive tool to learn some of these systems, but unfortunately this one does not deliver in that regard. It might do well for someone who already knows how to use the tools to practice, but it's not for me.
The game is pretty fun so far, but there really needs to be a copy . paste feature. The Dev has done some great work on the game and i will continue to play and test it.
I invested because this is very new and I like to support those who are inspired to write good code and dev prgms and games. I've only played a couple days so far. It's a good start and has a lot of potential! The opening graphics are really nice but do not follow through into the game. Not sure where to add suggestions so in hopes it reaches the dev, here's a couple below. 1. In 'notes' I can copy and paste to terminal, say an obscure pw I manually typed in when I found it : I cannot copy from terminal window like you can in a real linux envir. It would be great to be able to do so, it is very tedious to manually type the passwords and ip's found over into notes for instance. Especially if the password is very obscure. 2. Although graphics of opening screen are beautiful, it does not follow through into the game. It would be good to bring a bit more realistic feel to the game by enhancing the graphics within the game. example: possibly getting rid of the car-tune type characters that send you messages for a job. Maybe just remove the characters image or find some generic real faces you can use. 3. I may have missed it but I cannot seem to find enough information pertaining to certain programs at the shop such as metasploit or how to use the darkweb with TOR to search. Maybe I am missing something here. Looking forward to the development of your game, as I said, great start!
Very Fun Game, Level comparable with Grey hack. Very Fun game functions such as Stack Overflow, and Windows-Like Exploits Couple issues with web browsing. Very Unbalanced mechanics such as the Stock Market. Only a couple mission types which can get boring fast. With content where it is and the exploitable Stock Market, I was able to beat this game in 8 hours. Overall this game is great, and hopefully with further development becomes big. Especially with the lack of "Realistic Hacker" style games on the market currently.
Solid if not simplified experience. Dev is active and responsive to community suggestions and very helpful. The command line experience is fairly good, especially for early access. There are full releases that are so much worse at simulating a Linux terminal-like experience than this title but it still is simple and straightforward. Simplified in universe versions of real tools to enhance the experience and the missions at the higher difficulties can take a fair amount of time and sharp thinking but it isn't rocket science. Solid UI as well. Nothing feels out of place and if you are familiar with Linux, it will be very familiar. With all that being said, mission variety, although fun, is limited. 3 or 4 different mission types but the actually execution of the missions will vary so its not too repetitive, but certainly the mission system lacks depth. This can occasionally make some missions feel like a grind but I can tell you from experience, hhacking and pentesting can be a grind, and way more boring than you'd think. At least this is entertaining and you don't have to write reports! The copy/paste feature is a bit tricky sometimes. If there is an open window that has text that is underneath the window you are trying to copy, you mouse cursor sometimes treats both windows as the active window, so you highlight and ctrl+c and find that you copied the text from the window UNDER your active window. It can be annoying but organizing your desktop in certain ways mitigates this issue. Also, the network analyzer graph visualizations can be a huge cluster, but the dev is working on that. No built in tutorial in the campaign. There is a tutorial, but it is selected separate on the main menu. If you are like me, missed the tutorial option, and went straight in to the campaign, this is where prior experience with Linux/pentesting/other hacker games can save you for a bit, as it did me. I still ended up starting a new file as I spent all my money on tools that I couldn't use but it wasn't the end of the world. It allowed me to double back to the tutorial and.. well frankly it isn't great. BUT, the dev has already acknowledged this both in the road map as well as in the discord. See a trend? Overall, I absolutely recommend giving it a shot, especially if it's ever on sale. It may seem like I have more negative than positive to say, but I can confidently recommend the game. The experience overall is very solid, and everything I have to say negatively is either on the road map, has been acknowledged by the dev, or has already been patched out. It is not a complete experience, but there is enough here at this price where I want to see what this becomes.
There aren't many of these types of games on steam, so there's not much I can compare it to, but if you enjoy a mix of coding with investigation (and don't mind lots of reading), then this game will be right up your alley. I personally don't 'enjoy' this type of game because I lose interest very quickly if there aren't multiple explosions (or naked girls) every few minutes, but I can recommend the game to anyone who's looking for a hacking simulation game.
