How Stories Die

I downloaded this game with pretty much no expectations, as it is a free VN of which I had never heard. I have to say, I was very pleaseantly suprised. This is a full fledged VN that's given out completely for free. The story long enough for it (I'm currently around 12 hours in and haven't reached the end yet) and it's really engaging. The characters are charming, the dialogue is fun and the story itself keeps you guessing. On the visual side, the character portraits are really pretty, the backgrounds are nice and detailed and the CG's are gorgeous. I don't have much of an ear for music, but I can say the BGM sets the tone of the scenes well enough. My only complaint with the game is a general lack of polish. The CG's are a bit scarce, the same could be said about the character portraits. There's also the occasional typo here and there. It's completely understandable, as this game was (to my understanding) done almost entirely by a single person. But it's kind of a minor complaint overall, as it never took me away from the overall experience. All in all, great VN. If you're in the mood for a 20-ish hour long read with charming characters, great dialogue and an engaing story, give this one a shot. It's free, so there's nothing to lose. I've been really enjoying this one and can't wait to see how the story ends!

How Stories Die is one of the best visual novels I have ever read, it almost feels criminal that this game is free. The plot seems deceptively simple at first, but once you start experiencing other routes, it becomes impossible to predict what will happen next. What you end up with is a meta story filled with plot twists and populated by charming characters. I also love all of the dark and graphic moments this game offers. I hope whoever is reading this will give this game a chance

I will start by saying this VN could have made a lot of money if it weren't free. The true end was great. The Overall Story had a good mix of humor and serious content. Each route was a lot of fun, and then Getting the true ending on each route unlock the secret route and that was a blast. There were so many twists and turns that I was flabbergasted at how different each of the the routes ended up being.
