Game Slaps. Multiplayer would be nice but idk how aswell.
Very Good. Glad to see the B"scotch Costers blow up a bit. St Louis represent! Game has come along way from the demo. Still a wonderfully silly representation of the '100 duck sized horses, or 1 horse sized ducks', and the '100 guys vs 1 gorilla' memes. Still making me giggle regularly - honestly this is the most surprising thing about the game. I don't regularly laugh out loud at games but this game regularly makes me grin with how goofy and over the top it gets. The Costers' long experience building very good games does mean they have paid attention to balance and made it truly trickly through the mid game. I am honestly very surprised how much I feel my choices matter in what is literally an autobattler - which dudes, when to spend items, what relics to choose, what to buy, ect. The items are choice - the devs chose to add items where correct application will save you from desperate losses, but like other mechanic choices, this presents as a press your luck mechanic, as well as keeping you focused in on the fight where then you get to watch 1 million babies flying, or a stallion go nuts and stampede your Dudes in every direction. The only critique I will level is that like so many run based games, it does not present obvious truly and obviously game breaking combos - it seems to lean into Jund over the Balatro 'gonzo' combo breaking, Given the discussions, I'm sure these are in there if you play enough. Balatro's explosion is deeply rooted in 'dudes I did this thing you would not believe how broken' and I think this game is more like snowballs that start to feedback. If you love game dev, not just games, give their podcast a listen. Honestly I have no idea why they don't try to sell their business know how and very effective infrastructure. Very open, very funny, very knowledgeable.
Incredible game, highly recommended.
