It's a great little game, yes. but it has many flaws that just stick out to me too much to enjoy it. My favorite part of the game is the visual style. It looks fantastic and extremely unique. It looks even better if you turn down the motion blur. The items are also really interesting and often synergize with each other. Very cool. However, the pros stop there. The gameplay can be pretty grating at times. The amount of enemies is way too small for a roguelike. This doesn't mean the game has to have as many enemies as other games like Gungeon, but it should have more variety in the enemies as well. Instead, the enemies are like: "here's a guy with an axe, here's the same guy but with a gun." More enemies do get added the farther you get, but they aren't added as fast as they should. As a result, the combat gets boring after having to go through the first level over and over. I also dislike the bosses. They are pretty boring. Not much else to say. The biggest flaw in this game is the lack of iframes, or at least, the lack of hit clarity. Sometimes you go into a room and you are just absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥, no matter what you do. There are circumstances where you have to run in and run and gun, but more often than not, you just die right away, leading you to rage and most likely slam your table. It's a shame because this problem could have been fixed by just adding more iframes, or even a sound or a flash when you get hit. But the game doesn't have any of that, so in a way, you feel "cheated" when you die like this. Overall, I would not recommend this game. It seems like this game was not tested as much as it should. Also, the ending is underwhelming.

With an intriguing visual style, atmospheric music, and extremely satisfying sound design for weapons, House of God makes a good initial impression. However, it runs like absolute garbage, lagging near-CONSTANTLY despite my overkill PC specs (32gb RAM, 8gb VRAM), which makes it awful to play. There also seems to be a bug where my character won't respawn on restart, necessitating I exit to the main menu and restart every time I want to attempt another run. I know the game is only three dollars, but the technical shortcomings make it pretty much unplayable. I can stomach a bit of jank from smaller indie games like this, but the aforementioned issues are significant enough to make House of God dead-on-arrival. It feels like there's a good game in here somewhere, but I can't really recommend it now without further iteration from the developer, which seems unlikely.
Nope.
This is one of the worst games I've ever played. Screenshaking and bullet sponge enemies galore. The first boss is just atrocious.
Honestly, all in all good little game I'm sure you could pump a lot of hours into. But it begs one question... Where the ♥♥♥♥ is midnight animal Spencer Yan?
short and intense, just how I like it. a bit rough around the edges, but nothing too distracting. sometimes it turns into a slow-paced game of peeking around the corner and shooting single bullets at enemies . but if you dive into the action it's a lot of fun.

Could not recommend this game more, it feels good and looks so cool as well. Fast paced fair gameplay and lots of upgrades. And kinda pulls me into it with the crazy graphics. For the price tag this is well worth a buy.
