Hotel Tome ws

Pros - Charming voice acting - Engaging point and click inventory style puzzle design at least for the first act (I thought the game seemed to get a bit muddled in the second act) - Interesting concept with the whole paper book aesthetic - Humorous dialog. - Free Cons - Very short - Not entirely playable with mouse, Need to use WASD for navigation. Overall not a bad way to spend an hour. I'd be interested to see what the devs could do with a bigger budget. I'd like to play a game with a bigger scope set in the universe with these characters and visual concept.

Wish I could give this a "neutral" rating. Things I like: It's short, free, cute art style, puzzles are not too easy/hard. For some reason, the voice acting really annoys me. Issues: Has some text errors, subtitles aren't syncing up with the voice lines.

"Hotel Tome ws" is a so/so point and click adventure game presented as an old school pop-up book (I don't know if they still make those, everything is a mobile app nowadays). It's okay, genuinely made, but also not exactly remarkable for what you get, and also a relatively short experience. And there's no reason I could see for the -ws being tacked on. What's that about? The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. ws Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. ws Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. ws Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. ws Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? ws This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this. ws

Nice short game! I love the "pop-up book" art style! its look cool. however its point & click game but still use aswd for moving character. Overall is good.

Joguinho de escape bacaninha para passar o tempo. O cenário em formato de livro pop-up e as piadolas da protagonista deu o molho na gameplay. PS: Juro, uma run decente deve durar uma hora, no máximo, mas meu notebook é uma batata e tive que jogar no gráfico baixo, no modo powerpoint 1 frame por minuto, triplicando o tempo.

This is a nice little point and click escape room. There are a few parts that could be tightened up a bit, such as the key not working like it should on the first try which makes you think you aren't supposed to use it that way. But overall, I liked this, and the ending made me chuckle.
