Reviews
(This review is mainly intended for the developer, reporting bugs and suggesting a few things [beware spoilers]) Bugs -Many of the bosses attack the player while in dialogue, especially Bauer. -walking into the white death fight, if you hold W, your character will fall into the pit behind the boss and respawn on the platform behind the arena with the cultist -the first time entering the gun shop, I had access to all of the special guns for some reason. closing the game and reopening, the issue stopped. -you can softlock the game in the item shop by interacting with items and refusing to buy them, which causes the shopkeeper to take away the "no" option. If this happens when you don't have enough money to buy the item you're looking at, you're softlocked. This is especially frustrating because you need to interact with items to see what they do. -during the second phase of the oil baron fight, some bizarre bug forced my W key, so my character walked into a pit. Rather than respawn on the main platform, I walked across the pit to a platform behind the boss, which I believe would stop someone from taking the drill and softlock the game. -After the Oil Baron fight, the rage banana stopped working. Suggestions for Ape Byte (I don't know if you want to continue development, but if you do, please consider these) -Minor nitpick, the english dialogue isn't too good. Zane and I would both be glad to help you clean it up. -Weapon variation: the 4 base weapons all feel very similar, aside from the revolver, they all seem to deal about the same damage, so tweaking the numbers on them might help. -grenades: as a commodity, the grenades feel very weak. Buffing the damage would probably help. Additionally, If you add new items, I imagine some grenade modifiers would help add build diversity to the game. -Boss Navigation: I found that keeping track of the moving bosses was very difficult if I didn't stay close to them, which defeats the purpose of the musket in edition to limiting playstyle options. Something like a minimap to see the arena or a cursor that points to the boss would help a lot with orientation. -the game doesn't feel responsive, and I have a few suggestions to fix that. I think visual feedback when you take damage and the screen moving a bit more in response to the cursor would help. the screen moves a bit in response to the cursor, but if it moved a bit more, the game would feel a lot more mobile, which I think is the goal, and some screen shake or other visual effect on taking damage would make it feel better to play, along with making it easier to keep track of health. I do have one question about the game. Why are the enemies robots when the setting is old western? I don't dislike either idea, but they don't make much sense together. The game is rough around the edges, but if you do continue developing it with passion and care, I think it could be a great successor to Enter the Gungeon. (also closing note I love the gay couple at the clothing store)
10/10 game a bit scuffed great stuff
