Honkai Impact 3rd is a game that is beautiful with a cast of attractive Valkyries in anime form. It has a interesting story that actually shows some neat lil anime scenes here and there. But if you are a player that can not play games that require you to repeatedly bash buttons just to attack, then you would do well to stay away from this game.
So let's get down to the negative review.
I was basically attracted to this game watching the little cutscene and the pretty attack styles this game displayed. And they do have interesting characters, but lets be realistic. This is a superb Gatcha game (And I say that in a bad way) that will require you to invest a massive part of your time to obtain Valkyries/Goddesses that you are interested in to obtain for free. It requires you to level your account level pretty far ahead just to be able to get access to what they call Dorm Supplies...? (This is basically your best bet in terms of rolling for new Valkyries and getting S ranked players due to this giving you weapons, Valkyries both A rank and S ranks. And getting S ranks soonest if you are patient enough and wise enough to not spend any until you unlock this part of the game I am thinking around account lvl 30-35? Each set of 10 rolls costs you 2000 so S rank would be obtained at 25 rolls whereas the ones you see first when you are a new player would require you 80 to get a S. Don't do them!) This is one negative part I hate about this game. Its nice you get a lot of diamonds/gems from story, achievements, daily quests, growth quests, whatever. But it can only last for so long you know?
2ndly Its a button masher, I mean that literally. I cannot play games like this, thus I especially give it a bad review. My hand hurts a lot due to having to press a damn button over and over just do attack. People might find this funny, and most likely may not have this problem. Just wait til your older then it won't be funny. I am warning anyone that gets these kinds of problems to stray away now from this game. If I could just simply target a foe and the character would do auto attacks like a GW2 kind of pattern and just require me to do evasions or skills every now and then it wouldnt be so bad.
Other than those issues above this game can be fun with the unique little mini games here and there just like the game description says. But one issue I forgot to mention is the auto play enabling for the story. It seems broken. I have to press buttons to continue to the next prompt of character dialog's, Oh speaking of that what sucks is they do not do subtitles....I mean YES they do that kind of thing for the story, but if you play the game while using your character they will talk during combat. I want to know what they are saying. But there is no subtitles. It sucks.
One last thing to keep in mind is that this game will ask you if you want to add another X amount of space to add things like speech or whatever. I forget the details. But its another set of 20 ish GB. When you select that and you download it. Say you hate this game in a week and want to uninstall it right? Well guess what? They will still have those extra files on your PC sitting there. So when its time for you to say bye bye to the game. Be sure to go to your installation folder and literally delete this games folder okay? That way you delete that extra 20+GB of space it takes up.
If you want a game that is like this, that is more forgiving in terms of obtaining characters. Maybeeeeeeeee not so much of a button masher in a way.....kind of. Depends on the user... Wants to level there character much faster than normal. Etc. Then try out the game Punishing Gray Raven instead. The characters you can at least swap out on the main menu of the home screen and they are more intimate with you in terms of emotions and attachment. And they do subtitles during combat. The only gripe I had about that game was how it had very long story scenes to read.
