Hollow Head: Director's Cut

really good, atmospheric, short game. Now I'm waiting for Lorn's Lure by same author.

拿了火柴之後要靠自己的小倉鼠腦袋走，而且那個光源小到靠杯。 遊玩時間不長，只是我大部分時間都在迷路。

First of all, I'm not into horror games. So you might find this game more enjoyable than me. For me, this game has several flaws: - No graphics settings whatsoever. (Actually, no settings at all.) Fortunately, since it's a Unity game, you can manually set the resolution and the windowed mode by launch parameters. - There is input lag. I can easily see the delay between my mouse movement and the on-screen game. I don't know why, I'd suspect a combination of triple buffering with v-sync. - When you interact with anything, the text shows up slowly. You cannot speed it up, and the controls are frozen while the text is being revealed. If you just try clicking many times, hoping for speeding it up, you will only end up interacting again and having to wait even more. - The whole level design is made of long corridors of boring, with a maze-like layout. It's extremely easy to get lost, because you can't see much ahead of you, and because everything looks the same. - Trial-and-error gameplay. Sometimes you die (or get attacked) because you went a certain way. There is no way to know that in advance or to avoid it, given you can't see 1 meter ahead of you. This means you have to restart the section until you get the correct sequence of turns. I couldn't be bothered to do that. When I reached the [spoiler]valve puzzle[/spoiler], I tried using [spoiler]the pipes[/spoiler] to help me navigate the boring corridors. Unfortunately, it didn't work [spoiler]something killed me, more than once[/spoiler]. I thought that was enough of wasting my time. But... If you're into horror games and these flaws don't bother you, you might enjoy this game.

It's a lonely existence for a horror fan who doesn't enjoy the three staples of horror games these days: hide & seek with monsters, rationing batteries, and jumpscares. This game is mostly atmosphere with 1 section at the end with hide & seek (that I managed to never even run into the monster by sheer luck on my first attempt). That said, for $1.50, it was worth the spooky 30 minutes I spent with it.
