I wish they ironed out typos like "perigree" and "fuschia", and some minor art problems, as well as some of the UI like the text going over the box's border or sometimes requiring awkward-looking font size changes. Or the music cutting out if you go to Friend Select and then back to menu. These make the game feel rough, but that aside, it was a pretty fun romp! Whether interactions took a turn for the BIZARRE, the UNCOMFORTABLE, or the HEARTFELT, I was fully invested, and it was nice seeing what I thought would be a short and silly game turn into something a little more substantial the deeper I went. Each interaction helped expand Alternia in wonderful ways. The characters are very weird and endearing. I laughed a lot. Made me appreciate what a special friend group the Homestuck trolls had, and what a unique ruler Feferi was. The writing felt in line with the dark humor of MSPA. Actually edgier! The little musical, visual, and textual callbacks to the comics were super neat. I'm looking forward to meeting these guys again in Act 2 and seeing how things lead up to the Alternia from Homestuck, with caste tensions seemingly more lowkey and the drones less active. Onto Pesterquest!

To my surprise I jived with this plenty! I think the first batch of trolls in the introductory volume, while not the strongest start, help get the structure of this friendsim down effectively. The fault with this sort of format is that since each volume contains two new trolls, characters don't have too much room to develop (but some guest appearances do happen which were quite welcome). Despite that, it was quite a thrill and the epilogue served nicely as a bittersweet end.
Despite having a deeply inconsistent art style and a lot of the routes being admittedly boring, there were enough good ones to make me enjoy the experience as a whole. Pretty much all of the technical aspects of it are jank, and there are some issues that really dont make sense to be in a paid release, but the content itself is good.
