Was just browsing new releases on these tranquil pre-Christmas days, when there's little traffic on the roads, and you can feel the atmosphere of almost languid post-shopping relaxation... when I came across HEXADEL and it's amazing soundtrack. I thought that someone with taste in music as good as that must have an esoterically interesting game and either intentially, or ironically, the gameplay is an exact representation of the soundtrack, albeit in a hexidecimally abstract form! No, I'm kidding, It's more like a cross between "Missile Command" and the video game from "The Last Starfighter" in 2D form. Just a hint for the tutorial... You must pay attention to the tute, but you can reset it at will, but there's a part which might stifle progress, in the bit where it says to "Refund a component", Press TAB to undo the layer upgrade that it asked you to build in the previous tutorial step. I'm gonna get right back into it, because it really is an overdue mix of "Missile Command" and "The Last Starfighter" arcade game, as a Tower Defence game, with those epically smooth tunes. Take 6.
This game is a blend of tower defense and puzzle, with a really great strategic element. The genres are very well interwoven, the overall design is good, it's aesthetically pleasing, and the music is incredibly relaxing. A very good experience, highly recommended even in early access. I can't wait for the full release!
Really fun game that kept me hooked. The gameplay is challenging in a good way, the visuals and music are great, and the tower stacking mechanic and random item purchases are great ideas. Definitely worth the price.
чето разраб не в ту сторону идет... лучше своей первой игры он так ничего и не сделал... даже с обучением не освоил, что он тут намудрил...
I enjoyed the combination of tower defence and puzzle in this game. Placing towers, setting up conveyors, and deciding where to put traps feels strategic, and every attempt taught me a little more about optimizing
I want to start this review by saying that I fully understand this game is in Early Access. HEXADEL immediately stands out with its visual style and minimalism, which is what initially drew my attention. The background music also deserves special mention — it is very well chosen, pleasant to listen to, and fits the atmosphere of the game perfectly. One of the first things I noticed was the UI flickering in the main menu. I assume this is a stylistic decision, but personally I’m not a fan of it. When you try to read the settings and letters disappear in the middle of words, it becomes slightly distracting. Still, this is not a critical issue. The tutorial does a good job overall: it is short, clear, and explains the basic mechanics. However, the HUD is not very intuitive for new players. It would be helpful if hovering over objects such as towers, walls, or traps showed small text labels. At the moment, some elements feel unclear, especially on the right side of the HUD, where values like money, an “X” number, and percentages appear without clear explanation. The building mechanics are familiar for the genre, but there is a lack of clear feedback when construction is completed. For example, after building an additional tower floor, it is hard to tell visually whether it is finished or still in progress. Adding visual or audio feedback here would improve clarity. I have seen some feedback from players who disliked manual aiming, but I personally enjoyed it. That said, offering both manual and automatic aiming modes could satisfy different playstyles. The aiming itself feels quite slow, which is likely intentional, but it sometimes creates awkward situations where the cursor moves faster than the reticle. Because of this, interacting with the HUD while enemies are nearby can unintentionally pull the aim away from targets. Overall, the game shows a lot of potential. It is clear that real effort and care have been put into it, but it still needs additional polishing to reach its full potential. That being said, I cannot give this game a thumbs down. This is a genuinely good and high-quality project that simply requires further refinement. For an Early Access title, the game already feels very solid and promising. I don’t have major concerns about the core gameplay balance, although I didn’t manage to progress very far into the campaign.
Nice blend of tower defence and puzzle mechanics
This game is incredibly fun. The aspect of stacking towers on top of each other and having to build conveyors to move ammo between towers is not something I've seen before, and I really enjoy the strategy aspect of trying to manage the amount of buildings you have and having enough firepower. I can see myself sinking hundreds of hours into this. I highly recommend!
The game is simple to get into but keeps you thinking as you build and adapt. Learning what each structure does is part of the fun, and experimenting with layouts feels rewarding. A solid experience overall.
Really disliked it. An unpleasant experience. Nothing seemed to work, tutorial was no help tried to build towers, really hit or miss, walls seem pointless, not fun. Three thumbs down.
