it's an earthboundish game on pc
I originally reviewed this as a "No". After 82 hours of playing this my update is still "No". The story: WHO CARES. It's absolute nonsense I just found myself mashing continue and there is no "Skip" prompt (There is a skip prompt but it's only at points where it's insignificant) Art style: Yes it is nice. Combat: It's just you choosing to make an action with a ATB but the rest of the party is on auto. With your ATB you can alter a single character's action or change the behaviour of the party as a whole (Some of these are temporary in battle while others are until otherwise). You can grind repeating the same levels but the dialogue is annoying and not skippable (Unless mashing the A button to skip it). Even if you overlevel while grinding the balance almost requires you to make some input during a battle (Or at some point in the dungeon). So it's like an auto/idler game but you have to keep an eye on it. I found the only times I had characters KO was because I was falling asleep while playing this game - Otherwise it's not hard at all. Gameplay: They really messed up on the game mechanics (Like mashing an idler into an active turn based RPG). I think for the sake of the game design and style they made the UI a little clunky and slow to suit the "Theme park" style of the game but this is what makes it so annoying. If you want to farm for the items for achievements sake you will have to endure all of this which just pads the time to play (Thankfully you can save/load in a dungeon so it can help with the RNG of some item drops). Also the game has an oddly long load time so if you find you want to play this in short sessions in the same day (Like I had sometimes) I just left the game open which does add some to this revised gameplay time for this review. Another good indicator is check out the the global achievements for this game and see how rapidly the percentage of achievements earned plummets. This game is by no means difficult but all of the negative things about this game makes it challenging to get through by means of entertainment. Price: Currently shows 24.99 (CAD)...absolutely not worth it. I'm sure I bought it on a discount for under 10 (CAD)...still not worth it. An absolute time vampire that gives nothing in return Also bugged achievements.
⭐⭐⭐
I'm frustrated that I waited a year to play this because I wish more than anything that I could refund the game. I understand one may think it's "cute" or "funny" because I enjoyed some of the humor, too. It quickly wears off, only to leave something that is nothing but grinding through the absolute most basic RPG game you'd get on a mobile phone. I'm talking incredibly pointless and devoid of depth. It is the type of game you can play while watching a movie and engaging in a conversation and you'd lose nothing because there is so little interaction. I'd wager some may actually want that, though; I did not. Small doses of game play work like that...on mobile, when you want it for a quick dopamine hit. Sitting for even an hour straight is a chore, so the developers attempted to pad it with far too much pointless text with meta jokes that hit or miss. At least that's what I would wager was the idea to make it a full game. That said, it's shocking that they tried to charge $30-$50 dollars retail for this. There is nothing here you need to see. The game was collectively, and rightly, ignored when it released. Click "next" in your queue. You have something much better to do than play this.
I like this, but I got it for 5$ It's pretty cute, but all treasures being plushies and furniture sucks and not enough class variety. I probably won't finish it, but it's fun enough for a while
