I had a lot of fun with Hellcraze. I put nearly 12 hours into it and for an indie game that sure is impressive. At this point I'm used to indie games being 2-5 hours max. This game also has New Game+ so if you manage to beat it, there's yet even more gameplay to sink your teeth into. Check out my video review to get my thoughts as I play through the game(while dying endlessly). https://youtu.be/TIvRCGIKhEY
Ok, this is my first impression, but I love pixel art stuff, usually. Hammerwatch is a fun game, and this is like hitting some kind of that vibe for me, but it's something.. "else". There is no real classes to pick from, you're a person in battle armor, and probably the most rocked out playlist built into your helmet ever imagined for a video game ever on a mission to blow the hell out of .. well hellions. This game kicks ASS, and is not ashamed of it. There is a form of leveling system, which is easily accessed on the fly with the ESC key. You can get upgrades to your health pool/armor total and the damage each of your weapons use. The demons you defeat leave little purple soul globs you collect and you spend that to level everything to choose from. Again the music is phenomenal. The most basic weapon you start with is nice because you have essentially unlimited ammo for it, but you need to reload it frequently. The "better" weapons have limited ammunition, but you can pick some up as it is scattered in the corners of the hallways you must visit and conquer or gather stuff from defeated demons sometimes as they also drop items after soaking up some bullets. Did I mention the music is pretty amazing? Screen shake happens at "the right" moments, there is a distinct difference when a demon chomps into your armor/shielding or gets a taste of your flesh which is nice to see. This is worthy of the asking price if you like retro styled games and some stout metal to listen too while you blow some steam. If you're curious how it is on this side, jump that fence and come on over, you'll enjoy.
About the Game ------------------------------- Hellcraze is a game available on Steam that I had the opportunity to play for a couple of hours. The game starts off strong with a heavy metal soundtrack that sets the tone for what's to come. If you're a fan of heavy metal music, you'll definitely appreciate the selection of tracks featured in the game. Good, bad and the Ugly. -------------------------------- The first 10 levels of Hellcraze offer unique and interesting layouts that provide players with plenty of action. These levels are a great introduction to the game and do an excellent job of immersing players in the world of Hellcraze. However, as you progress through the game, the layouts can start to feel a bit repetitive. This is especially true in the later levels, where you might find yourself feeling like you've seen it all before. That being said, the monster spawns in Hellcraze are generally well-balanced. There are a variety of ways in which monsters can appear, such as pre-existing spawns or those that occur in specific areas when the player is within range. This variety helps to keep the gameplay feeling fresh, although there are times when the monster spawns can be overwhelming. This is particularly true when they appear from multiple directions, leaving the player feeling like they're being attacked from all sides. Conclusion ------------------------------ Overall, Hellcraze is an enjoyable game that will appeal to fans of heavy metal music and action-packed gameplay. While the later levels may become a bit repetitive, the game's overall design and mechanics make it a fun experience for those who enjoy a good monster-slaying adventure.
Not sure why Hellcraze is free but it is so if you enjoy your top-down shooters, why haven't you played it yet? Starts gentle but don't let that fool you. Graphics are simplistic but that just lets you focus on the murderdeathkilling. Hellcraze plays out like a top-down version of doom, focusing on rapid firing and fast weapon cycling. Has a deceptively gentle learning curve but after the first boss it gets frantic pretty quickly. For more niche curation, follow me at: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/27440015-CSH-Picone/
This is a quality game, tons of fun. All action. Well worth the price. 4 hours in and not near completion.
Before I played Hellcraze, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Hellcraze is a bullet hell-type game in which you can delight yourself, each level has more monsters and greater difficulty, a great variety of weapons and guaranteed fun, it is also f2p, what are you waiting for to defeat those demons?
