Heaven's Grave

This game is criminally underrated. It is undeniably rough around the edges, but I think that the wonderful writing and world building ore than makes up for its technical faults. The MC is very likable and has a strong personality, which seems to be a theme with Blackcross & Taylor games. The LIs are all very well written and play off the MC well. Easily recommend

9/10 STORY- Amazing reading. I love it when the story is so well written by skilled person, when there IS a story actually, not only circumstances to build romance. And it's a deep, moving, emotional one. With amazing build of the world and lots of philosophic thoughts and situations about human nature and faith. There were few weirdly unlogic moments to clearly gave a chance for a particular situations. It's particulary flagrant when rest of the story is so well made. Like: why on earth first bath is in salty water for money, when they spent days walking next to the lake and it's even said MC has her own soap with her .... or pay for a water from the same lake, moment after they left it behind... there are few more of those, but they are rare and can be forgiven MC- In some opinions here i saw people called her push-over. I cannot agree with that at all. She is doing what she's doing because she's skilled, surgent, proud. She also my seen painfully naive and "overly good hearted" but though I didn'd get to any end yet, it's rather obvious why she is as she is, after talk on the beach on the beggining of the story. Her character build is amazing and I love it a lot. Story is set in old asia lot a like Japan ( side fem characters all look alike art gave me a lot of impish joy :p) This MC is nothing like typical JP otome characters, far, far from cute, sweet, shy damsell in distress all the time, with all this silly "I ll fight with evil with power of my love and my super unique good heart". It's so much more complex that this it's amazed me. She is the strong, reosurceful leader here, at least on the beggining. Later on she naturally developing in something... more delicate, lost with need to rely on smb, but it's an amazing thing strongly conected to the story itself, it's not flat one type only character all the time ( she does though do stupid things sometimes ill-fitting to her created picture- again to create particular situations only, what actually gave me an impression that this was written as a regular novel once and than changed into otome) Overall she is still one of the best MC I ever played, funny thing my no. 1 is from the same developers. (AND SHE'S GINGER ^^) ENDINGS- Well... weakest point I would say. I wouldn't call it endings rather 3 different stories with basically same endings. And well... I wasn't satisfied with any of it much enough. The game decription is telling you this from the start. This is not cheerful, happy VN to start with, so do not expect ending to be fluffy and full of rainbows- even the good one, but it;s not a problem here. It left me... not sated. It would be nice to see actual MORE ending, than just abrupt story- mission complete-yes/no- THE END ROMANCE- As I mentioned before I had impression that it wasn't wrote as otome from the beggining. Accept for nice one in Kien route- romance as you can imagine it for otome, does not exist. It's more a long story of people getting to know each other, bond and then on the far end finally realisation of feelings comes. Is it bad? No- development seems extremly natural - but if you searching for sweet love story, circulating around romantic feelings a lot- it's not for you. Overall I liked it. It's more apocalyptic novel than otome, but it may be in taste of picky readers, bored with sugar stories.
