Some things i liked about this game: - Ran perfectly - The mix of city builder with incremental elements is genius - Core loop was engaging to the end - Awesome difficulty mix - Loved the art My only con is that I want more. Great game!
That was a fun game. there were moments of frustration (the good fun kind) but basically a chill game you play while watching a show.
Really enjoyed diving back into the incremental genre with this one. Hearth and Hamlet nails the cozy idle formula. You don't even need to wreck your hand clicking since the auto-clicker is built right into the game from the start. (You have to active this in the settings) What I appreciate most is that it knows when to stop. No bloated, artificially extended playtime just to pad out the experience, the length feels right for what it is. The gameplay is about as simple as it gets, but that's the point. It's pure dopamine delivery through ever-increasing numbers going up on screen, and it works. There's also a nice bit of challenge, trying to go through without losing a single battle, or intentionally cranking up the difficulty for certain achievements, even though the consequences of losing are basically nothing. My only real gripe was wishing for more customization options for the kingdom you build up over time. Thinking about it more though, I think that was just a false expectation. Overallm a comfy, well paced incremental game that respects your time. Recommended if you're looking for something low-effort but satisfying.
So the first 20 minutes feels very narratively driven with popup stories every other thing you do, not my cup of tea but some people go for that, the longer the game goes on, the more the instinct became "I guess I'll just leave it running to let resources refill." "Oh a quarter of my people are dead? At least my resources are full. Time to upgrade and do it again." I'm sure you can skip some upgrades, but most of the time the main improvements are stuck behind the quests (some of which punish you and lower your production until you can progress again.) and it just....it just feels like I'm playing waiting simulator. Sorry but it just wasn't for me.
