Heart of the House

Very good game, very entertaining and dark. Lots of choices that seemed to matter. I loved it.

This is one of my favorite choice games in terms of intrigue and romance. I was looking for a good story with a good romance, and I played the demo and decided to give it a chance it. Needless to say I was hooked and it did not fail to captivate me throughout the game.The story was captivating in a sense that the characters were fleshed out and the writing is just so so lovely. The imagery and language made me swoon. (and I fell in love with Dev) It's quite an immersive game too. This is one of the few IF games I replay truly would shelf as a favorite.

Been a long time since a game I played was so good! The story and writing are, as always, amazing!!! I played for 5 hours which is much longer than usual. I had to play two times to figure things out mostly. I loved the choices and stat raising as well as the characters. This is my probably my favorite Choice of Games entry so far and I try to play one every Sunday. Please keep making more so I can do this forever <333. You won't regret playing this game as it was one of the best choose your own text adventures on Steam!!!

Wow wow wow this story was ridiculously good. I've just completed it all the way through once, and I'm heartbroken because of a character who died, but I'm ultimately satisfied with my ending. It's an entrancing story, which draws you in the same way that the house captivates its victims. The characters are so distinct and interesting, and the story is filled with intrigue and mysteries. I think I've uncovered quite a bit of them, but there's still so much to learn. I think the plot and pacing are well executed and it was hard to step away from the story. It can be stressful and scary at times, and I think that's impressive given that there's no visuals or music or anything asides from text to contribute to that. Serious kudos to the author. One of the best CoG/Interactive Fiction games I've played thus far.

I enjoyed the story very much. The writing was good and I especially liked the descriptions of the manor. The characters didn't feel flat and felt like real people (I need to replay this for Bastian). However, the ending felt a bit too fast paced and it came off as being rushed. The lack of a saving feature is a detriment to the replayability of the story, as you have to play the entire story again just to make a few different decisions. I understand it's to give weight to the decisions you do make in the game, but a good middle ground, at least in my opinion, would be to allow for going back in the text for a second playthrough. The spicier scenes were also well written and while I did enjoy them I was a bit disappointed that choosing to be trans didn't have any effect on them (at least for Dev). Writing several scenes to account for the different combinations of pronouns and genitals would be a lot more work, but it would've made the scenes more impactful for me.
