A big step up from the prior titles with a nice mix of hidden object and puzzles 7/10
Playing through the series in order you expect to see a gradual improvement, but in this 3rd title there is a big step forward compared to the previous. Firstly the story is a direct continuation from the last game and brings to a close (I think) the overall story started in the first game. It does a good job tying it all together and builds to a nice finish with some tense moments. The hidden object portions are pretty good with relevant objects for each location (for the most part) it all looks nice and is clear. The puzzles are a huge improvement over the last game with some classic ones and some clever new puzzles. The game is linear so you can't progress to a new section without completing everything in the last so you always know what you need is in one of 3 maximum rooms. There is a hint system which you can use for the puzzles (to complete) or to find that annoying last object. This is more limited at the harder difficulty but I found it was enough to get me through without frustration. I had no issues running this on windows 11 and no crashes. One slight issue was a photo reassembly puzzle which I did but it didn't seem to register no matter where I put the photo. But the skip button let me get past this with no penalty. Overall I would recommend this 3rd installment. It's only 3 hours to complete which I think for the price is ok. In terms of the trilogy, I'd probably suggest playing 2 and then 3 as they do directly flow one into the other. 1 is very dated and quite long so it would be the one I would skip at this point. 7/10
It could be said that across the first three Haunted Hotel games, we saw the evolution of not just the series but Specialbit’s abilities to craft a gameplay experience. Sure, playing repeated misfires isn’t fun, but seeing the games evolve from a design point of view is fascinating. Haunted Hotel 3: Lonely Dream doesn’t make any more sense than the previous games in the series, but it at least tries to explain its convoluted, sometimes immoral plot. The game’s message, however, doesn’t sit well. We’re told not to rely on aspirations because they are unreachable; aspirations should only be our ‘lonely dream’. I’d argue people tend to move towards what they love because of their aspirations, and sometimes, maybe it leads to success. Ultimately, the most damning thing Lonely Dream is saying is that there’s no point to having something you can work hard to reach. ‘Confusing’ is the word I associate with these games, and with Specialbit Studio going onto better things, it’s a shame these games weren’t realised more coherently. Elephant Games' approach to this series would end up more fruitful, yet with due reason, the games developed by Specialbit would not be referenced again. This is one hotel I don’t think they wanted to revisit.
aber leider nur in der englischen Version !!!
A nostalgic game for my belove. That's the cornerstone of the nowadays HOPA gameplay. Realistic graphic, sectional storyline description, and it's interesting gameplay, easy to dive into detective's perspective. but this storyline is without any 'haunted' element, and the developers are trying to build a haunted atmosphere sedulously, and apply the creepy background sound. for example, A underground section renders a ghost texture in the stair room. After the process of playing, feeling comfortable about this casual game, I really addict this old game graphic that strive to get more realistic.
La suite de "Hayted hotel II Believe the lies". Pas bien long (moins de 4 heures). L'histoire n'est pas très développée, ça ressemble plutôt à un escape game. Trop de SOC, trop fouillis, et répétitives. Puzzles pas trop durs.
This third installment of the Haunted Hotel series of HO games was much better than the first two. It has plenty of traditional HO scenes that are not repetitive, the minigames here and there are challenging but not too difficult. To best follow the plot, Youtube the first HH game and read the documents while fast forwarding the scenes. Then watch the ending of the second HH game and you'll be caught up with the story. I'm looking forward to the next installment. Rating: 7/10
Good game! This is an Adventure HOG that plays really well. -Good HOPs -Find inventory items you need & things you need to interact with in each location. -Good help feature that actually helps :) -mini-games & puzzles that relate to the story that also come with a skip button. -journal. -no map -Good cut scenes that keep the story moving.
