About
You are a wizard who’s been evicted from your tower by your treacherous rival, Spellsniper. In the process, she stole your most prized power: the art of GUNCASTING. Worse still, she’s handed pieces of your magic to her chaotic goon army. Armed with only your backup spellbook and whatever "guns" you can get your hands on, you must climb back up through the depths to reclaim your magic, your tower, and take your revenge.
Guncaster is made to embrace the spirit of movement shooters while paying homage to old-school FPS games. It’s a love letter to boomer shooters with a fantasy twist, designed to feel chaotic and satisfying in a bite-sized package.
Your magical abilities extend far beyond simply casting gun. Swift, agile, and relentless, you can dash, wall jump, and weave through the battlefield with supernatural speed. Leap across perilous chasms, evade deadly projectiles, and outmaneuver relentless adversaries as you blast your way through the Spellsniper's hordes of nefarious minions.
Harness the boundless energy of magic and unleash devastating arcane forces upon your enemies. From conjuring fiery meteors to swarms of locusts, Guncaster offers a vast array of spells to fit every playstyle. Whether you prefer calculated precision or chaotic destruction, the choice is yours. Aadapt, experiment, and let your magic reign supreme.
When you're out of spells, there's always your most trusted spell... your gun. These are not mere tools of war; they are extensions of your will, forged to obliterate anything that stands in your way. From rapid-fire machine guns to earth-shaking rocket launchers, your arsenal is built for carnage. Fire away until your spells recharge, and then mix magic with firepower to unleash devastation like never before.
Do you have what it takes to wield magic and gunpowder in perfect harmony? Step into Guncaster and find out.

Polish this up a bit, more spells, enemies, maybe some physical weapons like staves and procedural levels possibly and you got yourself a pretty fun little bite sized boomer rougelike.

I'm not going to go hard on a free game, but this isn't good. It sounds decently promising but does nothing well. The map is very basic and so are the enemies. The game plays and moves awkwardly and the sound stutters. You can set key rebinds and see in the menu that they're set, but they don't actually change in-game. So that punch button is forever bound to F, and you'll need it a lot since you lose your spell casting mana quickly, but how are you supposed to move with WASD and frequently punch with F on a QWERTY keyboard? Maybe if you never want to move right. No map display either, so I'm just going down one dead end after another in the opening level. Maybe I'd have liked it more if I got to that outdoor level in the screenshots, but this opening level is so clunky and tedious I can't be bothered to press on. This is the way to do it, though. It's a very basic, amateurish project, the developer understand that, makes it free. So if I ever see anything else from Grimoire Studios in the future free or paid, I'd definitely check it out because the developer is an honest person.

The vision is great, the visuals are amazing, and the movement is promising; if the devs work out a few QOL and mechanics tweaks, then this would EASILY be top of steam charts for indie games. Keep it up!
Fun idea, but game feel needs some polish. My issues currently are: 1. Cannot bind keys to scroll through guns. 2. No number when setting FOV or sensitivity. 3. There is strange choppyness in camera rotation despite high FPS. I've tried to show the effect here: https://youtu.be/vuuuPfYbsjk 4. Enemies and their projectiles are difficult to see. 5. As an effect of 2-4 => Guncaster has a strange "FEEL" (essential for FPS's, Quake1 has it perfect IMHO, hence it's still played a lot). 6. Nice music, but terrible and "squeaky" opponent voices. Yeah, this provide some comical relief, but do not fit the vibe of this game. Rouguelikes and FPS are my 2 favourite genres, I really wan to like this game, but as it is now it's mechanically too clunky for my taste. To anyone looking for a Rouguelike and FPS hybrid I'd recommend Mothergunship, which has some common concepts with Guncaster (i.e. having two active guns bound to LMB&RMB at all times). I wouldn't recommend Guncaster as it is now [2025.06.05] due to clunky feel, but someone looking for a Rouguelike and FPS hybrid might find it FUN provided the game mechanichs feel right to them (which is a matter of personal preference anyway). For me it feels too different to other FPS I play
So, its an OK game i would say because it its pretty fun to play but has many things that could be improved. 1. I would really liek to have an fps limiter 2. even tho my ffps is about 160 or higher, the camera still moves weirdly 3. The sensitivity is a bit weird in my opinion 4. The combat is a bit confusing sometimes 5. Rebinding keys doesnt work 6. The waves to open the portal to next world ddont work well.... sometimes only 1 waves spawns and then the portal is open even if there a supposed to be 3 waves. Still quite fun, has potential (it is quite addicting to be honest)
A charming spell-slinging rocket blasting game. You will need to carefully manage your Mana and guns. When those run out, you will have to relay on the trusty spell: Punch. Perhaps needs something to mark the way on the walls to aid in navigation. Like a chalk to draw on the walls.
Honestly, I really enjoy this game. I can see the vision behind it and it feels nice to play. Unfortunately the game doesn't save your progress, however the first few levels are very easy and re-playable so it's not that bad.
Such a fun game, the spells are fun, the game feels good, movement is solid, I loved it! If you were to keep updating this, a Map would be sorely needed I kept getting lost
