Guild wars 2, used to be amazing game now, its a game that has no defined classes. all meld into one big mess. WVW even on high end PC is a stutter fest. Graphics engine as a whole has very little done with it and is showing its age. classes are imbalanced both PVP and WVW. You can play a class in the way you want unless you are running a meta build that is crazy OP to the other classes. Can have 3 or even 4 players trying to take down a Thief or necro spec. I would say play other MMO, this is not worth your time or money for expansion's which you need to get the more powerful specs.
Avoid looking at my time played here. Absolute majority of players play the game directly through Anet launcher, not Steam. I have recorded tens thousands of hours played over the 16 years. Top 3% account according to GW2E. What can I say about the game. I loved it, still do. The amount to do and ways to do things might be overwhelming to the new players, but things are done way more easily than it was back in the day. Game was awesome, with awesome community support. Things started changing about 8 years ago. Each new expansion became very poorly crafted. Latest one is an absolute joke, where developers were too lazy to create anything. It's extremely poor. Community support is very poor too. I forgot the lady, who was absolute gem of community leader, but got sacked by Anet...everything started going downhill. Bugs are everywhere...from 8 years ago, most basic bugs are still there. It's much more easier to write that there is a bug in wiki, create some fancy skin for raptor, than actually take and fix it. Fixing it requires work and doesn't bring money! Would I recommend the game today? No. It's just way too much for a new player and to buy all those expansions with so many dead maps...not really worth it. I remember gigantic WvW battles, even with loads of issues...now...if you see 20 enemies in T1, it's something. Those crazy days are gone. No. Gw2 not worth the money anymore.
I am horrible at writing reviews, but here we go.
Summary
I started playing Guild Wars 2 in Feb of 2023, shortly after I got tired of playing RuneScape for the past 2 decades. I fell in love with it and bought the first two expacs shortly after. So far, I only have about 1300 or so hours in it and I am still having a blast playing the game, whether it's on my main character or on my alts, there is always something to do. Given the dynamic events that pop up constantly, it makes the world feel more active and engaging, no matter what area you're in. The community has been really great and even met some new friends after joining a guild a few years ago. I would highly recommend giving this game a shot for anyone looking for another MMO to try out.
Favorite Detail
The other thing that I love about GW2 is the fact it's not a subscription based game. Yes, it has a MTX shop, but the game does have to support itself somehow given that you just need to buy any DLC's once for your account and you'll have access to them all the time, rather than needing to worry about a sub.
Quick overview
There are 5 unique races and 9 classes to try out, each class having its own difficulty and playstyle. Each Class does have its bounds for what gear and weapons you can equip, but I personally think its well balanced. Once you've played enough to venture and acquire legendary gear, the legendary gear can be accessed by any character on your account once they hit level 80 which is amazing!.
Performance
The engine itself is a bit dated, and only runs on DX11 so there is a CPU limitation when it comes to larger battles and open-areas, but it's not too horrible. I have enabled Nvidia Smooth Motion and it does help out a bit, even though its really fake frames being generated. Overall, I'd say give it a try and see how it goes for you. Even with GW3 being announced, I'll still play GW2 as its been one of my favorite MMO's to date.
You either cave in and buy the dlcs in order to experience the full game or you dont and leave. I mean they have to make their money somehow and despite the thumbs down i dont have it against them. The free game does'nt scratches the itch that what i believe the paid version would
Good game but tryhard sweats are present ofc with 10000 legendaries sweating their sweaty balls off. But it is veri good game. Very addict, very mucho good MMO, suck my balls dog ass Blizzard u ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up WoW for life
I love playing Guild Wars both the first one and the second one they have made such a wonderful game to play with your friends or solo the game is easy to level and play and just have fun
I didn't really give it a fair shake. But the game is not very pretty. I got through some early mission, just looked out at the world, and didn't really want to continue. The trailers make the game look better than it actually is.
Not so much a review of the game as a review of the support for the game. Had an old GW2 account I started in college that I wanted access to for the release of GW3, and their "support" completely stonewalled me with any information I had for it. Of course I cannot access my old college email, so I guess I won't be playing.
