This game was free and I still want my money back. It plays like it was made for a game jam but then never refined. The concept is okay but clearly needs more new ideas in the first few levels rather than 'look, even more of the same plants (objectives)'. Also, the run speed is so high as to be uncontrollable yet the levels expect you to be extremely fast to get 5 stars. This isn't fun, it's tedious
Very simple mechanics yet captivates the attention for precise timings. As the game progresses, you get to find an exponential increase of solutions with ideally one that helps achieve five stars. Should give it a try and don't mald if you have to retry some

A puzzle game that decided that solving puzzles should be clunky and tedious. The main problem are the controls - three different important actions, with three buttons on the keyboard. Shift to dash, which is important to get around quickly, CTRL to pick up things and SPACE to interact. Pick up and interact could have easily been rolled into one button to make things easier. You have to constantly water the flowers and also adjust the mirror position as the sunlight moves across the stage. It seems that every level has more and more things to manage at the same time - getting all stars in every level is extreme busywork with a dash of trial & error to the point where, after fiddling a bit with the controls, I was done after only a few minutes as I could see where this game was going - pressure puzzling with frustrating controls. There are better games where you have to solve puzzles under pressure.
it's just bad
My biggest issue with this game is the controls. I am ragequitting over them. They are positioned so awkwardly and unintuitively for me on the keyboard that I am getting no joy out of this game, only frustration. I also find it frustrating that the objects you can carry block your pathway when you drop them. It's possible this issue would be less frustrating if the controls were remappable, but ideally they would just remove the hitbox on the broom and watercontainer, and any other small interactable objects that might come later in the game. Was excited to try this game finally after it sitting in my library for so long, but I am honestly dissapointed. After doing the tutorial I got an achievement, so now this game counts towards my achievemnt completion % too... Wish I had just left it in my library unplayed. If anyone has a hack/program/way to adjust the controls please share so I can go back and try to get 100% completion on this thing. Edit: Apparantly this game does not count towards your overall achievement completion rate. That's good!
My husband got this game for me, and I hadn't played it until after it became free, but when I did get around to playing it I found it was a lot more in-depth than I initially thought it would be. You play as Bruce and using the power of mirrors with light and a watering can you grow plants. There are obstacles that try to slip you up or catch you off guard. I was NOT good at this game when I first tried it. Not even a little bit. So immediately I looked at blaming the game, but that was an inaccurate way of going about things. I got better, practised a lot because I'm stubborn and wanted to complete the game and get all the achievements as well because I figured I owed it this much for misjudging it at first. Hard mode tests your limits. There are corners designed to mess you up. Be prepared to perfect your strategy before expecting to pass those. I actually had trouble with "Bruce's Inferno" which was an achievement for getting a total score of "666" in the very last level of the game. I think it had bugged for me and I had done several things to try to fix it. I reached out to the dev team and they actually removed that achievement for me and anyone else looking to achievement hunt when they play. So when I say I recommend this game, I do but I also recommend the dev team as developers who want to improve their games. Don't expect this game to be easy, expect to rage a little bit because darn it you almost had it, and try your best to get better at playing before giving the game a bad rap.
Nice music for opening menu. Jarring animations. Clunky non-configurable controls. "Puzzle" mechanics confused me without intriguing me.

It grew very Big... Very Very Big.
"Grow Big (or Go Home): Ultimate Edition" is a 2D pixelcrap action/puzzle game with an indoor gardening theme because that's what gamers were crying out for, not. The story involves you, as Bruce, a talented gardener, navigating various locations and eras to care for plants. What do you do in the game? You use tools like a watering can and reflective mirror in a series of levels, with some rather pointless and boring arcade-like top down action. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $9 USD for this. Yeah, 9 bucks for pixelcrap. Talk about delusions of grandeur. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a slap in the face to anyone who was suckered into paying for this... nobody got refunded. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 14 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
