I might be slightly biased as the developer of this game. In summary, good game. Finn is cool too.
Pretty chill platformer. There's some features I'd like to see added like a leaderboard function for individual levels, maybe a race mode where it picks X levels and people can compete in time/# of deaths. Difficulty wise, although i'm not terribly experienced with platformers, I'd put it above platformers made for kids like mario but below the hard core speed running platformers like celeste. With this price range I think if you are into this genre you will be satisfied.
TLDR: This game is like watered down kaizo levels, but in a good way. Groovy is a precision platformer with extremely basic, yet very smooth and fluid controls. Your character is satisfying to control, and moving throughout levels is often rewarding. The game is short, consisting of about 3-4 hours of gameplay, with each level having one collectible you (usually) have to go out of your way for, giving levels replay value. There are some levels that can be quite frustrating due to a horrid lack of checkpoints, and a few irritating frame tight jumps that you will likely get stuck on for some time. However despite the hiccups in level design, everything else about the game is quite polished. I'd definitely recommend this game to anybody who enjoys platformers, however the frame tight jumps might push people who are unfamiliar with platformers away. Definitely a solid game, 3/5.
Good game.
Groovy's great use of simple mechanics to create a fast-paced, unique variety of levels makes this platformer a fun experience. The game typically finds a good balance in map-design between length and difficulty, preventing the frustration that comes when a level overstays its welcome. A healthy handful of levels take these mechanics to a split-second precision to test your skills, such as the Gloom bosses. The music adds a nice touch to the game's Coolmath games vibe in a pleasant, nostalgic manner. On a side note, I think it would be fun if the fishing room was larger and somehow incorporated a lot of the games mechanics, whether that be jump gems, jump boosts, speed boosts, or even traps, making it also serve as a training room of sorts for you to mess around with mechanics infinitely.
