This is a fantastic labor of love from a true art lover. To be able to see some of these art works at the correct life size in VR has been a great source of joy when I couldn't travel.

The app has more than 1,000 paintings, and many in great resolution (and some with not so high res). Compared to Kremer Collection, which is my reference for a VR museum, you get the same boring frame on all paintings in "Great Paintings VR", while you get the correct 3D frames in Kremer Collection. Doing real-time 3D frames costs much performance, so while I can do Kremer with Index res 300% in solid 90 fps (RTX 3090), I can do res 500% in solid 90 fps with Great Paintings VR. So there's that... You also get awesome classical music with Great Paintings VR, which you do not with the Kremer Collection. The classical music sounds simply amazing with the Index speakers - extremely clear and high-fidelity music, this app may be worth installing for the music alone - seriously. Furthermore, Kremer Collection is limited to one person's impressive collection, but does not have the range of paintings in Great Paintings VR. Great Paintings VR can feel like looking at jpg images in VR, but the res is often so high that it looks like visiting a real museum - or close enough. You can be seated or standing - and change music etc. To move you teleport and can use snap rotation.

Возможность "войти" в картины и ощутить атмосферу, которую хотел передать художник, просто завораживает. Интерактивные элементы добавляют глубины и позволяют узнать интересные факты о каждой работе и её авторе. Интерфейс интуитивно понятен, а управление удобное. Однако немного не хватает большего количества картин и, возможно, дополнительных режимов вроде викторин или более сложных заданий для углубленного изучения. Иногда текстуры кажутся немного размытыми, особенно при приближении к деталям. Но в целом, это великолепный способ познакомиться с искусством, особенно для тех, кто не имеет возможности посещать музеи лично. Рекомендую всем ценителям прекрасного и тем, кому интересно искусство в новом формате!

Très agréable !!! Sauf à ne pas avoir compris comment faire, j'aurais bien aimé pouvoir choisir le peintre que je veux voir : là en l'état, on est obligé de passer de salle en salle... A moins de jouer sur les dates..? Et dommage que les commentaires soient en anglais ! Au moins des sous-titres seraient très bienvenus !Mais les reproductions sont très belles, et, si on a un peu de place, se rapprocher plutôt que d'utiliser la loupe est un plus : le rendu dans la loupe ajoute du flou :/
