WHAT IS GRAVITY CAB
In Gravity Cab, players take on the role of a taxi driver to transport passengers underground in a challenging environment of a distant planet. The taxi is controlled by thrusters and effects of physics, such as momentum and gravity, significantly influence the vehicle's movement. The gameplay involves mastering the the taxi's controls, navigating around obstacles and hazards, and solving puzzles to successfully complete each mission.
Gravity Cab offers a modern take on the classic Space Taxi game (originally released in 1984 for the C64). While building upon its adventurous essence, players learn to expertly manoeuvre the cab in various circumstances, leading to the unfolding of a captivating story.

Video: https://youtu.be/A0xz6lzLlkM As an old dude who played Space Taxi and Choplifter as a kid, I've quite enjoyed the Early Access so far. It's quick to get into, fun, nice music, and good level design. The trailer is what you've got, and there's not much else to really say I guess. You fly around, pick up passengers, and drop them off at different platforms. Occasionally you'll have a few kind of sub-quests I guess you could say. Kill zombies, kill passengers, things like that. It adds a little more to the game and keeps things varied. There are also hidden hearts in levels which give you more lives, and the available levels thus far are varied enough to give you a nice sense of seeing something different as you progress. In short, it's a fun time.
If you missed Space Taxi 2, like me, then this game is for you. It will not convey that retro-futuristic feeling, but the gameplay is the same. I would name the following features of the game: 1) high-quality 3D graphics being perceived from a single angle; 2) unique passengers with various bonuses; 3) levels also have their own design features that affect the difficulty. The game is good, but so far short. The developers promise a continuation.
This is a beautifully done tribute to one of my favourite old-school games of all time, Space Taxi. The controls are fluid, the sounds and music are great, and the atmosphere is immersive (surprisingly so, for what looks like a simple game - the sound effects and soundtrack really draw you in). Bop from one platform to another in unique, themed levels as you dodge environmental hazards, slow-opening doorways and heavy traffic to deliver your passengers to their destinations. Each new location has novel features like fast-moving trains, criminal passengers, rotating platforms or warp gates to challenge you. Having reached the end, I have maybe three constructive criticisms of what is an excellently-put together little game:

It's not obvious enough, nor shown quickly enough, whether or not your landing gear is down. It's shown with your jets angling down and your doors opening, but these things move automatically as part of regular maneuvers, to the point where if you're desperately slamming yourself onto a pad (and the game allows you to) it's not immediately clear in that moment whether or not you'll land safely or sustain damage. Even a simple “gear down” indication on-screen would fix this.
Fuel consumption is much too high... I would say it needs to be 25% if not 50% less (or more). The later levels get larger and larger, with longer transit times between fares, never mind actually carrying a fare, but you seem to spend most of your time looking for the next fuelling pad. Yes, yes, it's part of the overall strategy, I get that, but it just feels excessively high to be having to look for more fuel multiple times in a single fare or trip around the map, especially when you're surrounded by NPC vehicles who don't have the same problems (I felt the same exploring D6 in the original Metro 2033 with Miller... I was having to constantly worry about my filters while he had all the time in the world to stroll around commenting on everything... but I digress)
The UI in the menus doesn't work properly with a pad. I need to use my mouse to select what menu items I want, and then play with the pad. Trying to just use the pad to choose "play", for example, it seems to select multiple times instantly so I go straight into the first level instead of being able to choose which I want. Likewise, up or down doesn't move one item up or down, it moves three or four. I've tried with multiple gamepads with the same result.
In spite of all these, I had a great time with the game and want more. The attempt at a story, I can take it or leave it... I just want more levels, more fares, more flying around trying to earn moon money!
Gravity Cab is a fantastic skill-based physics platformer that really tests your precision and control. Navigating tight caverns and tricky landing zones is both tense and satisfying. The controls feel smooth, and every successful landing feels like an achievement. If you enjoy games that challenge your reflexes and patience in the best way possible, this is one to check out!
A tricky little game. The changing gravity and air currents will test you. Don't pick up armed passengers and always keep an eye on your fuel!
Zseniális Space Taxi újragondolás! :)
I remember Space Taxi for the Commodore 64 and its sequels on the Amiga. They made some nice remakes online FYI that were nice. This was one of my old childhood faves!! I am sooooo happy they remade this game for steam! Looking forward to more!
