Let me start by saying that if this were any more than $4, I would not be reccomending it. I'm a 20+ long year rally fan, rally game fan, and rally sim fan. I've been following gRally for about five years now, looking forward to the day when they finally released a public playable version. I'll start by saying there is HUGE potential here, it's not even close to being realized, but there is a foundation and that is a start. These are my initial thoughts after playing for about half an hour, I will edit anything I find that I may have been wrong about as I play more. Here are my pros and cons: PROS: -Physics feel natural and make sense. -TRUE, PROPER triple screen support with multi-rendering, something that even big name rally sim developers have been either too lazy or too stupid to actually impliment in any rally title ever. -My controls all mapped on the first try, with not issues. I use a CSR wheel, a DIY hand brake, a TH8A Shifter, CSR Elite pedals, and a DSD button box. -The UI is nice looking and easy to navigate. -Force feedback feels good. CONS: -Graphics are very ugly, and graphics settings in the menu don't seem to make any difference. Still tons of pop in, stuttering, blurry textures and low poly everywhere. -Sound is bland, from the engine noise to the bored sounding co driver, and there is no sound of the tires on the gravel. -No in game controls for seat position or FOV. -Stages are bland and uninspired. -Only 2 cars, both unlicensed. My last 2 points on the cons side are ones I can live with, considereing this sim is built for modding. Just the way that the original rFactor was. I really hope they keep working on this and get some good feedback, and that modders work hard making great cars and tracks for it. This could end up being something really special. Right now if you want a decent rally title on PC, you can choose between RSRBR, which is fantastic, but is missing some features such as multi render triple screen support and a nice, clean UI, Dirt Rally/Dirt 4...which have both been abandoned by it's lazy developers and offer no mod support for "legal reasons", the WRC games, which are all developed with mostly console players in mind, or the fantastic sims like Automobilista or Assetto Corsa, which have rally as an option, but do not have a main focus on rally and are pretty sparse as far as rally content. Here is hoping for the best, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

For less than £3 this is actually better than I expected. It is clearly a 'very' Early Access game so keep that in mind if you do think of buying in at this stage. Recommended prepared you're willing to do some figuring out for yourself. Let's start with the most positive aspects: Oculus VR works perfectly for me and is a much better way to play the game, the corner depth perception and elevation changes are much more effectively conveyed. Given the rudimenary graphics I think VR is by far the better option at this stage. Some of the graphics pop in of the forest stage is highly noticable, eg you can count the flowers popping in on the screen as you drive towards them. Loading in from the pregame UI to ingame VR is an utterly surreal experience, in the headset you are first in a white room, them some scenery pops in, then the car above your head from an outside view, then inside the car sat in the footwell and finally that become actually a decent position looking over the wheel, so despite there being, afaik, no controls to adjust the seating position it isn't oo bad at all. Those elements aside it's a good start for the VR element of the game. The rest needs some work and I'll add a few comments about both the ok aspects and what needs some work: The VR version does need some form of visible gear selection indicator as there is nothing onscreen at the moment. Luckily I had no issues lauching the pregame UI but you will need to spend some time getting the game setup. Video ettings need to match your screen resolution and whatever controller you are using needs to be configured. There is no wizard but simply clicking the circle at the top of the control in question, steering, brakes, throttle etc and then selecting the wheel/pedal/button you want to assign worked for me on the TX458 wheel (remember to reverse the axis for throttle and brake too!) The game itself plays OK, there is no real road feedback on the tarmac stages, you just get some wheel shake if you hit the edges/scenery. Wheel feedback at the moment is more weight than feel but is drivable in both VR and single screen. Forest stages have much more road feedback and bounce so there is something good to work with here. They need to add an onscreen instruction to release the handbrake at the start of stages, that initially caught me out, had the car in gear and I was going nowhere. Finally make sure you select the correct tyres for the forest stages because if you leave the grip tyres on it is a very quick trip to the trees at the first corner. It's like driving on sheet ice. With the forest tyres on normal handling is restored. I'm not sure the wheel FFB strength option is doing much, I reduced from 140 to 60 and it still flet like heavy steering. If you are easily frustrated and don't like figuring things out for yourself I would say avoid this game for now. If you are ok with a bit of experimentation and fiddling to find the right settings it is worth a go. It till be good to see how this game progresses, for £3 it was worth the risk for me even at this stage, it could go either way of course and we might not see much improvement but there is the basis of something that could be good here.
It seems as though this is a one man developer team being developed at slower than a snail's pace! even on the developers website questions are very rarely answered or even acknowledged. As for the game itself, i would have to say it is a MESS! They throw around the RBR name a lot but DON'T BE FOOLED, This is not even close to RBR and i can safely say never will be! Also the Developer has not made any online competitions in many many months failing at even that promise.
Lets ignore all the performance UI and content issues since it's BETA. But the basic physics model does not scream anything different, the only plus I can say is the steering centering force is spot on and catching a slide is very easy. But other than that, simply could not tell the quality of the force feedback model due to how basic the stage surface bump texture is, neither could we examine how advanced the suspension model is either. Some basic game asset such as the default cars should be improved to at least give people a better first impression as well.
Well we have been waiting for so long for gRally and the building team stated as an successor of RBR with tons of options physics models cars tracks and Mod friendly but as it launches it failed terribly at all.Ok i know its early access the team is small but right now at its current state and take into consideration all the above i said i cannot believe that ever will be finished or kind of finished. Sorry for that gRally but its true. Physics seems ok at some aspects but again not what you told you will feel and at any state what you should feel. I am OK with no Offcial cars right now but its a problem you know... Only FWD and RWD...no 4WD or AWD at the moment Graphics and visuals are 10yearish old but for me its again OK Nice menu and screen It has great potential and posibilities but AGAIN i doubt if will ever reach them....!
The game has a really solid foundation in lots of different areas: Pros - VR Support - Mod Support with Clever Mod Package Creator - Mod Manager - Telemetry Support - Recce, Replays - FWD/RWD Physics look good and handle as expected - Wikis and walkthroughs for creating and releasing mods. Cons - Some limited Cars/Stages for now, but will come with mods and new releases. - No Sense of Speed from the Cars on the included tight tracks - Getting Wheel setup is a bit tricky with the UI.
Very early access but has a lot of potential. There's only two cars at launch but they both feel really good IMO. The asphalt driving physics seem very polished, but I feel like dirt and gravel are really "icy" I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this throughout development.
this game will not even load as far as the option screen before it gives up with an unresolved steam error.
Pfui!
Ok, so as others have said, super early days. But there is the bones of what could be good fun. Looking forward to more of the game as it becomes more polished! I don't have my wheel set up as yet, so there is a bit of fiddling to get stuff working, and if you make config changes, there's no 'reset to default' button - just exit the game and delete config.ini in the gRally folder, the game will remake it. Tough with digital input, but after a few laps I could get some kind of control over the car and get some nice drifts on the gravel. Keys if anyone is interested: Gear Up: Q Gear Down: Space Handbrake: Z (Must release at start of stage to go anywhere) Accelerate: S Brake: X Left: < Right: > Couldnt get the controller working (apart from analogue steering) - it probably would given a bit of experimentation with the config file and button mapping. I feel that Mark Race's review below ( https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197971539421/recommended/605760/ ) is the fairest. I have no VR though, so can't comment on that. But as he says, be warned! If you want the game fully formed and served up to you, don't get it. If you don't mind a bit of fiddling (reminds me of messing around with emm386.exe!) and want to support the (indie) devs' efforts (IN THEIR OWN TIME!), then get it. It is only 3 quid. At that price, the content available is worth it, I feel.
