A friend wrote a review and shared some wonderful screenshots of the setting, so I decided to immediately pick it up. Goodbye is a walking sim-like game that takes around 15-20 minutes to complete. No achievements, no challenges, no enemies, just feelings. Feelings of being alone, forgetting about loved ones that are thinking of us and expecting to hear from us. Time is a cruel thing. And this little project reminds us of it. It also reminded me of my late grandmother I lost 3 years ago. A grandma' who was active all the time but I saw how frail she was getting as time passed. And how I skipped one or two weekends to take the train and visit her. And then, as we lost her after an accident that made her bedridden, her will was falsified so that other family members could take advantage and inherit more. The game doesn't have graphics settings but I felt it was optimised enough for me not to experience any glitches. As you get closer to objects you can interact with, you can immediately see the button you need to press popping up. The only exception was the front door that felt reacting to my prompt a couple of seconds later. Eventually, I tried the hard-press option that worked just fine so it didn't make me lose immersion. Goodbye is a sad but wonderful little gem. Do I recommend it? For sure. When to play it? I honestly can't say when it is the right time for such a game given the emotions it evokes.

Time. What is it for you? Something that you care for? Or something that flies away? How did you describe your amount of Time? Is it just for you? Or is it also for others… like Friends... like Family? Welcome to GOODBYE! GOODBYE is a short but very intensive Experience. It is a loveletter to Family and it is a reminder how short (or Long) can Tim be. Well, that depends on the Side of view. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3565814481 GOODBYE is very short, about 15 Minutes and it is for free. I take it short, because i don´t want to spoiler anything. Guided by a wonderfull Piano Melody and in nice Graphics, you are Granny and are waiting for a letter from your Granddaughter. The Rest you have to experience by yourself. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3565814646 And believe me, it is ABSOLUTLY worth it. In the End, when the credits are starting i felt a Tear on my cheek. I was thinking about my Aunt who died 4 weeks ago, there i felt it, how short but also how long can Time be … at the same Time. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3565815078 GOOD BYE highly reminds me of the also intensive and wonderfull DEAR MOM. GOOD BYE also have very good Voices and a wonderfull Endsong. Everybody should take the 15 Minutes to play ... no to experience this Game, it is for free. And in the End i´m just asking you one simple Question: Did you just Hhave spoken with a family member today? Thank you for Reading. A lovely and simple short story that will resonate with most of us. It’s clear how much heart went into this game, and despite the occasional bug here and there (the door is the final boss), the passion behind it speaks louder. In just 20 minutes, it made me feel more than many multi-million dollar budget games ever could. This is what video games should be about, and I highly recommend this story to everyone.
“As we advance in life, the circle of our pains enlarges, while that of our pleasures contracts.”
one word: WOW! This game is an emotional masterpiece. Is it short? yeah but it makes such an impact. Here you play as a grandma worried about her granddaughter. I loved getting the loving grandma vibes from the way the character talks. Her voice is just filled with so much warmth and comfort it's like you are receiving a hug. The scenery and little details are gorgeous and well done. I'm still a little confused on why grandma lives in a cottage alone so far from civilization maybe some back story there would be cool? I honestly found myself wanting to know more about grandma. How she got to live there? Why does she need that medicine? was she ever married? if yes what happened to him? I love old people and listening to their stories so I might be a bit biased here. The only problems I had with the game is I wish there was a setting menu and it took me a minute to realize I could press F to open the door. Those are both minor things though in my opinion. In my play through I only encountered one possible bug? one time when I went to add wood to the fire it opened the door instead and I had to pretty much stand on the log of wood to add it to the fire. With this game being free (I feel like it could easily be a dollar or 2 at least) you have nothing to lose from giving this game a chance. It will hit you in the feels but make you feel warm in the heart at the same time. I really enjoyed this game and I hope the developer either continues this game maybe the story of the granddaughter? or goes on to make more games.

Goodbye is a free and short game (or, rather, a well made and emotional experience, with no game play choices to be made), about an elderly widow in a remote and run-down cottage, who desperately clings to her declining life while waiting to get a letter from her college student grand-daughter. This was a contrasting emotional experience for me because Ken, my friend of more than 40 years, died at the end of last year at the age of 98, having been forced to leave his home (where he had lived for all but the first year of his life). Unlike the grandmother in Goodbye, he spent the last two years of his life in a care home, bedridden and praying daily for the release of death, so he could be reunited, as he firmly believed though never a church-goer, with his beloved and long-deceased parents, sister, and fiancee. Instead of the grandmother's edible gifts to Death to extend her life in Goodbye, Ken would have offered flowers from his small but lovely garden to shorten his own...
Perfect game to send to any neglectful grandchildren you may have.
This game is very very short, about 15-20 minutes long. It's graphics in my opinion are really good and the attention to detail in the outdoor sky is AMAZING. The story was short and very sweet. My only complaints are that it's not longer, there is no settings option so the mouse sensitivity was EXTREEMLY high. I had to turn my mouse down to about 800DPI to make it like slow enough to play it nicely. You can see the amount of work the team put into this game and I enjoyed it. 3.5/10
