Goo Deer is a weirdly addictive mix of hunting and store management. It's a strange but fun concept, and the gameplay loop is simple in a way that makes it easy to keep playing for "just one more day". I ended up sinking over 2 hours in it without really noticing. That said, the game feels pretty rough around the edges. Some parts of the hunting feel clunky, there are noticeable bugs and the gameplay can start to feel repetitive after a while. There's also a very punishing side to it that can kill the momentum fast, especially after you've spent some time building things up. TLDR; I had fun with Goo Deer, but I can't fully justify the current price. It's charming and addictive, but also buggy, rough around the edges and a little too punishing. Worth checking out if the concept sounds funny to you, but I'd personally wait for a sale.
Not gonna lie! Game can get real stressful at times. But still pretty fun to play! Alot more to do. Will play again soon. But watch my gameplay below! https://youtu.be/UUlf1QNJcqU?is=hSo95mkKYaLsk5H-
Game was super fun! I love maxing out the store's way of selling product like making ice cream machines and meat products instead of just soda. Hunting is fun lol
Gonzo Crazy Fever Dream. Had me questioning what was real. I probably need to chug another Goo Deer. But if I'm being serious, it's a bit rough around the edges. With some improvements, this could quite an enjoyable experience. Here's my first 5 in game days: https://youtu.be/wa7FWyG3syE?si=NymQmjGRGQucNJI5
Overall Thoughts: I like the game, but it currently has some significant flaws. The core concept is weak in its execution—it's a basic shop tycoon that tries to blend automation, management, hunting, and horror elements, but it doesn't quite click yet. Since it was just released, I really hope more content and fixes will be added in the future. The Bad & The Frustrating - Poor Performance: Optimization is very weak. Even on an RTX 3050 and an AMD Ryzen 5 6600H, the game runs poorly. - Punishing Mechanics: I absolutely hate that you lose everything when you die. It feels completely awful and makes the experience incredibly stressful rather than fun. - Repetitive Gameplay: The game gets repetitive very quickly. Notable Bugs - Door Glitch: There is a weird and highly annoying bug when you try to walk through a door while carrying a box. - Broken Deer Spawns: The deer AI/spawning is completely broken. They all spawn in the exact same spot and follow a single path. The rest of the map is entirely empty, while one single corner is overcrowded with them. Verdict: It has a unique mix of genres, but in its current state, the bugs, performance issues, and frustrating mechanics hold it back. I get it free, in my opinion, the game is total garbage.
Absolutely fantastic game that has two things holding it back and preventing me from recommending it and that is the fact that I can't set shelves to only stock a specific item, and I can't set production minimums and maximums. As it currently stands every time I return from hunting I come back to a case or two of bloody and vanilla goo, 15 cases of original, and upstairs I will be lucky if there is a single section of vanilla and two of bloody with the rest filled with classic despite plenty of resources for the others. Once this is fixed I will happily change this to a recommend. Other than that I have had a few bugs that required a restart. The first being that the computer just ran away while using it once, I believe because my stocker bumped me too far away and prevented me from doing anything other than pause, and my mouse vanished once while using the meat hook for too long. The other two bugs I encountered was the trap disappearing while crouched and for some reason the quest when you hire the operator was bugged until it just randomly worked one time. However, the aesthetic is fun and the gameplay itself is solid for the genre so if the above issues don't bother I would recommend the game.
I did one run before I died stupidly to a raid on the store becuase I was off hunting. But it was a lot of fun! I will def be playing more, there is a few more optimizations that need to be done but I also vtube, SO running all that software with the game and streaming seemed a bit much for it on my first attempt. Some lag and dropped frames. Was better the second time around! Dev's seem proactive on getting updates out as well~ Two things I do find off, I cant change the price of products. Ad in the opening sequence says $4.99 but in store is $3.49. I didn't get far but I did get a cashier and stocker, and it's a bit odd the stocker wont throw boxes out. He just leaves them on the floor. Unsure if that get's rectified when I upgrade him or not. Also unsure if there is a place to store animal / animal parts in the basement for when I get the staff to auto make product for me. Seems odd to have to keep it on my person otherwise, defeating the point of getting automation.

I have put a lot of playtime into this, and I forsee (with some polish from feedback) this game becoming very popular. In it's current state, the game is a bit rough around the edges. There is glitches that need patching and quality of life additions that should be added eventually (product organization, prioritization of products your employee makes, disabling machines, setting par levels) but I still had a blast. I noticed there was even a patch today that addressed the more significant glitches so I see this is a work in progress, which I'm okay with. Some people hate incomplete games, but I love seeing surprise updates based off of feedback the gaming community gives. I am also very curious to see what the modding community does to this game tbh. ANYWHO I have a full playthrough of the game before the 1.01 patch. I probably discovered every glitch imaginable and many things I wish were added in. Check it out if you wanna! https://youtu.be/2zXdG9BsP5o?si=qwy9jY1S0SpZ7zgj
some say it is a Goo Deer game than what ya see on store shelves, yessiree. You don't gotta be a goober to like this 'ere Goo Deer game. *slurps down green drink* The pros: Building infrastructure to produce more and make more money is great. Your employees are super necessary and feel worth it, including their upgrades. The hunting aspect is a very refreshing way to breathe even more life into a cool idea and game. (And if you struggle, just buy traps and put them where you see deer the most; traps are goated) And it's fun The cons: There's a slew of small bugs that range from a dead deer not being able to be picked up, to the "throw" command getting stuck on the screen, or I saw Skootie playing it and his guy kept breathing hard (the audio would not stop) until he restarted the game. The econ balance feels punishing and bottlenecked: Expensive upgrades to your production don't feel worth it, and, your distillery doesn't work fast enough to support having a bottler plus an ice-cream machine running, for example. And the bottler turns resources into way more cash than the ice-cream machine does. the code could use revision and polish: dead deer can't be picked up when in the water, setting a trap while crouched made the trap vanish, and saving and loading can cause unexpected things to happen I haven't finished playing, so maybe I'll update this later but there's still a good chance the game's got a lot more to show me. I just wish I could rearrange items on the shelves somehow or just put different items on the same shelves; having no space for my new vanilla ice cream due to the freezer already having 4 green ice cream in it felt bad. But I recommend it because this game has so much potential and is so much more than some horror game that's already done after a few hours.
