Golf Monday

This is a fun game. I would love to see achievements in the games that this creator has been making. especially some about the fun stuff you can do in this game with hitting other peoples balls and using golf carts to destroy things and make people mad.

This is an amazing -little- game. I mean little as in, really good. it's really good.

Cool little game that's probably not worth the price of admission, but does feature a unique shot mechanic I haven't experienced in a golf game before. Might be worth picking up if you like supporting small experimental stuff.

It's really good, I don't think it's worth the price though. I mean it's 6.50 (in CAD) for probably around 1 hour of gameplay. It's still amazing though.

Golf Monday is a super sized pico 8 game by Johan Peitz. If you are not aware of what Pico 8 is, it's a fantasy console for making, sharing and playing tiny games. Think along the lines of 80s 8-bit computers and you get the idea. The idea behind it all is that because what the fantasy console can do is limited, it means the games people make are also limited. Limited in size, graphics etc which means the developer needs to get a bit crafty and think differently. Many have already been pushing what was believed to be the limits of Pico 8 and a lot of offerings from Johan Peitz certainly rank up there with them. Why is all of this important? Because golf monday is basically a bigger version of his other pico 8 game golf sunday. I had played golf monday after he launched it and it quickly became one of my favourite Pico-8 games. So when he announced golf monday I was definitely interested. This game manages to pack in an 18 hole course and at the same time still operate within the Pico-8 world. The game has so much charm to it and is a lot of fun as well. I like that it is so easy to just pick up and play this as it is more arcade like making it easy to take shots but a little more difficult to master certain aspects. On my first play around I totally missed the customise your player at the main menu, where you can also change if they have raw power to hit it further, or more precision in their shots but can't hit the ball as far. This gives the game an added dimension so you can play about with things to find what you prefer. You also have everyone else who takes to the course at the same time as you can how you can interfere with their game but face their wrath. For such a small game there are a lot of little bits in there that really help to make this mini game a lot of fun. You can take your time going around the course or do like the others and get around at speed, so it will vary how long your round will take. Also if you want to jump on any of the golf carts dotted around that can add to your time or speed it up depending if you want to see what you can drive over/into. Whilst this might be a small game it is not small on fun and I have already returned a couple of times to do a round even though I did top the leader board after one round. I will say I spotted a couple of small issues although they did not stop my enjoyment of the game. The players who play the course at the same time as you, seem to be able to walk faster than you and as such manage to get around the course quicker. Now I am unsure if they continue to re-play the course or not but on a couple of occasions by half way through I was never re-see anyone else on the course as they are all away ahead of me, which is a shame. There were a few times I got confused as to where the hole was/where I was in relation to it. When you go to hit the ball it shows you where the flag is, but there is no way to re-show you this/there is no map to check. I got this game in the sale and I have to say for the £2 I spent I am more than happy with how much fun I have had with it so far and will be back again to play. Yes it might be a very small game but it is a lot of fun.
