Gold Rush! takes you back to the year 1849, when gold was discovered in California. It was certainly one of the most exciting times in American history. Gold Rush! includes the three routes tens of thousands took to the gold regions. Become Jerrod Wilson and experience each trek as you travel from New York to California.

The only rush I had was when I closed this game. It felt so good.
I play a lot of adventure games... This one sucks. Crap animation Crap graphics Crap voice acting...really really cringe worthy kind of crap and I felt tortured by trying to play it... Why is this a game? It may have been OK 20 years ago but nowadays with the quality of adventure games out there now... this is a waste of data. Sorry devs but its bloody awful...

This was... painful. It's a P&C/Adventure game. The graphics are modest. The music is OK. The story is also OK, nothing special. No bugs or crashes. Overall, it isn't good. I was not playing this because I was nostalgic, I just wanted to have some fun... And boy! This is the opposite of fun. It's hard to control. It's slow to go everywhere. Dialogs are lazy. Voice acting is not that bad, but still mediocre. As often with these old games, it takes a long time to figure out things since many things make no sense. It's just trial and error. How boring is this? There's one part where you need to stand looking at the grass till it gets greener. Yeah, literally looking at grass for minutes! It includes cards. I reckon it has some retro-charming but it's not good retro, it's just an old lackluster game that can stay at the bottom of your forever unplayed part of your collection.
This version of Gold Rush is a mess and probably not worth trying for most people, even those with nostalgia for the original. It feels more like a mid 2000s adventure game than something from the mid 2010s. It was buggy when I played it and the cheap 3D models and backgrounds lack that simple yet endearing vibe the original has.
Absolute disgrace to the original game!! I received this as part of a bundle to hopefully relive some childhood memories. This version of the game is heavily bugged and should not even be allowed for sale. Have started over twice now and stuck in the same spot both times right in the first 5 minutes of the game (go to the dock to read the poster, and on the way back, stuck walking). I also tried to save the game, well, the save looked successful. When I tried to load a saved game, nothing there! WTF. Both are known bugs by the developer and they have posted workarounds for them. They spent two years remaking this classic and apparently it's good enough to sell. When Sierra On-Line released the classic version of this game in 1988 over 30 years ago, it ran a LOT better than this. You should be ashamed of yourselves. If you're going to remake a classic, either do it right or don't do it at all!
Gold Rush! Anniversary is a remastered version of the classic adventure game released by Sierra in 1988 that promises to deliver a nostalgic experience with updated graphics and modern controls. You control Jerrod Wilson who must travel to California during the Gold Rush to find his long lost brother. The remastered version stays true to the original story line including the three alternative ways of travel to California. I am quite tentative to recommend this to someone who has never played the original. In this modern age of Adventure games, this title feels like a whisper in the wind and will most likely only appeal for nostalgic value.
At the start of the game there was no indication of what to do.. where to go .. etc -- I couldnt even last 5 minutes - quit and asked for a refund
