About
Gold for Retirement - is a hardcore platformer that will challenge you and push your skills to the limit!
Embark on an exciting adventure where every gold coin brings you one step closer to a carefree retirement. Explore dozens of levels filled with tough challenges and dangerous traps.Enjoy stylish pixel art that immerses you in the atmosphere of classic platformers, and lose yourself in the game’s world thanks to its incredible soundtrack.
But the main highlight - is the unique flying mechanic! Your knight is equipped with a special device built into their helmet, allowing them to soar, glide, and overcome even the most difficult obstacles.
You are a knight, albeit not so young as you once were, but your heart is still full of nobility and your sword is still sharpened to a fine point.
Every time you put on your armour, you experience a familiar thrill - your past is full of heroic deeds and adventures, and new quests await you in the future.
You have rescued beauties out of the paws of terrible dragons, fought mighty beasts, and even faced small but cunning monsters.
But behind these exploits lies one big truth: gold. Yes, gold!
It gleams brightly in the sun, and every coin sound delights your ear. Who else would think of a carefree old age if not you?
Which banner or medal would help you rest easy in the decline of your years? Your old legends? Or that humble fee the kingdom ordered to pay you for your hazardous adventures?
Alas, neither can provide you with a peaceful old age.
Meanwhile, your knighthood privileges are beginning to crack like the armour that has served you for more than a decade.
Your purpose is clear: it's time to hit the road, to take enough gold with you to end your days in luxury and comfort.
This year will be a year of good fortune - you are about to set out on an exciting journey, where the sword will be drawn only for defence, and the search for wealth will become your primary mission in life.

Warning: Asset Flip! This is a Unity asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" ripped off a bunch of other people's assets and put his own name on them, trying to cash in and get famous from someone else's work. This is creatively, morally and intellectually bankrupt.
The developer is trying to get YOUR money for someone else's game assets. So what is this? "Gold for Retirement" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. I had to look a little deeper into this 2D retro pixelcrap, because at face value it's identical to many Russian asset flips that plague Steam, it's a low effort pixelcrap "minimum viable product", rushed quickly into shovelware bundles, undeclared AI slop marketing images, it hits so many of the same notes as one of those Steam "fake games" that nobody could be blamed for assuming it is one. However, unlike Russian fake games, this one has an intro screen and the developers list their names in the credits, and they also dumped this garbage onto Itch, which is somewhere the Russian asset flippers go. It's perplexing, but at the same time it's okay to just take a step back and not worry about the purpose of the game and just judge it for what it is. This particular game is crap. It's a simple 2D platformer with a bit of brawling as you take on the role of an old pixelcrap knight. It's generic, uninteresting, and I like I said, it has all the same qualities as a Russian asset flip, whether it is one or not, and at the end of the day the quality and value any product on Steam has is what matters to us, the gamers. This has none. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. PC gamers will be insulted by the demand from the developer that a console peasant children's toy controller should be used, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never, under any circumstances dictate to gamers how their games are to be experienced. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 5 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 130,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 130,000+ games on Steam? "Gold for Retirement" is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer response here is an appalling insult to gamers everywhere. The developer supplies a long list of reasons they knew this was unacceptably low quality and a list of utterly unethical, amoral behaviour, and yet sees no problem with polluting the Steam store with this garbage anyway. The developer brazenly admits they're plagiarising... they took someone else's assets, and did not credit them. Gamers are not supposed to "guess" if a developer didn't actually create the assets in their game. When developers do this, they position themselves as having their name against those assets... it's 100% plagiarism. If they used someone else's work in a Hollywood movie, they'd be sued into the ground and never work in the industry again. They're tacitly telling gamers because this is their game, the assets are also theirs. We also know that this is deliberate. It's easy to include a simple credits page. Why would the developer deliberately choose not to do this, if not to hide the true origin of the game assets from gamers? Claiming the work of others as your own, failing to credit the work of others, is highly unethical, and the developer here now openly admits to it The developer claims this is their first time trying to make a game. If I went to a restaurant, got sick from eating bad food, and got told "The chef is new and has never cooked food before", would that make it okay? No, it wouldn't. The developer supplied a very valid reason why this should never have been put up for sale on Steam in the first place. The developer admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here... another explanation for the poor quality of this game. The developer makes the utterly untrue, completely dishonest and frankly insulting claim that the only single reason this didn't outsell Grand Theft Auto V is because of lack of marking. Utter BS. This failed because it's garbage. The developer seeks to lie and mislead gamers, desperate for anything at all to avoid facing the facts. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. I have more properly adjusted my review to warn gamers about this asset flip garbage. I cannot recommend this asset flip to anyone.
