Finally a decent Poke'mon, Final Fantasy Tactics game is on Steam. Much better than Temtem.
Glyph-Bound Kotodama should not be on steam yet. There is some polish to it, but it feels more like an alpha than a beta. The only content available is 1v1 PvP matches. Unfortunately that requires other people to be online to play. I love the idea of the game, but without any accessible content, and the only tutorial being a menu tutorial that points me to the 2 working menu options, a teambuilder with 80% of the Kami's locked behind a $10 paywall, and a lobby search/lobby hosting system. I would love to come back to this game later to see if there was content I can access but for now, this review remains negative. Im currently sitting in a lobby - there isnt even a lobby chat option, or a method to see if someone starts a lobby while im waiting. Only thing I can do while I wait is make different teams out of the 10 kami's I have access to and dont understand what they do.

Concurrent players on Steam, sampled daily since tracking started.
There is absolutely nothing to do. No map to play on No battles unless someone else is playing Nothing is finished to the point of just having a menu system.

"Glyph-Bound: Kotodama" is an abandoned Early Access ripoff of Pokemon, but with turn based tactical combat... rather bold move to rip off Pokemon, especially if you've been paying attention to Palworld trotting off to court after the Pokemon Company filed lawsuits. And yet here's another developer ripping off someone else's IP, and for profit, no less. The developers abandoned this 2 years and 1 month ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. On pricing and value for gamers, this is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out a $7 USD DLC for this as you're expected to buy extra DLC from Steam to unlock all the stuff in the game (presumably you can get that by grinding, but this comes across as P2W type monetisation... really not okay). Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped
This game is in quite early access at the moment of writing this review and only has pvp. This game is really fun to play. There are lots of different creatures with a lot of abilities, different attributes and their own animations. There are also a couple different maps. The pvp gameplay itself is really good, it is fun and works well. There is currently a small issue where the creatures dodge way too often, but the devs are aware of this and it should be resolved soon. Before you want to buy this game, I would recommend joining the Discord server unless you have some friends to play with. I have not been able to find a game unless I or someone else asked on Discord, which means that you will need to find people to play with, or have your own, if you want to play this game. While I do own the DLC, it currently does not change much. The basic creatures are fun to play with, and unlocking the DLC simply gives you more to play with, if you really do enjoy this game. TL;DR: Game is worth at least trying, and I'd consider it worth supporting too, but be aware that you will need to find people to play with (on their Discord, or somewhere else), or bring some people along with you to play with.
