Ghost House

This was a surprisingly scary game (I'm easily scared)! The Puzzles we're just right if not a bit easy! Played this on a stream (on my twitch channel SpookiestSpooks!) with an audience of 2 people was a great time! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cute little game to take up about an hour of your time! Big shout out to my mods and head mod they suggested me the game! There isn’t much of a story here. You play as a kid who spots a chance to grab some free candy from a house’s porch. The bowl is empty, but the front door is open, and curiosity wins. Next thing you know, everything goes dark. You wake up in a locked room, and from that moment on, the goal is to get out. The mechanics follow a familiar indie horror formula. You explore the house, searching for items and keys that unlock the next door, which leads to the next clue, and so on until you finally escape. There are no objectives or waypoints, but key items are outlined, making them easy to spot even from across the room. Most of your interactions revolve around doors and drawers, which hide important items, while rest of small details around the house do nothing or trigger a brief comment. Items are used automatically at the right spots, but there’s a catch you can only carry two at a time. That limitation forces you to think ahead, dropping something if you believe a newly found item will be needed soon. Some items are removed when used, while others stick around in your inventory. The game lets you know when something is no longer useful, which helps cut down on unnecessary backtracking. The house itself isn’t very large, so it’s usually clear where items might be needed. The standout mechanic is your camera. It’s your only real defense against the shadowy figures with glowing eyes that emerge from the floor in dark areas. They slowly move toward you, fading away if they reach a lit space, though the lighting in the house is dim at best. Encounters feel scripted, and a few shadows linger longer than expected, but they’re never particularly fast. If they get too close, they’ll hit you, and you can fail. Healing comes in the form of bandages, though they’re limited. The same goes for floppy disks, which act as save points. You can use them at a computer in an office, and it’s best to save after making meaningful progress. That said, the game is fairly short and not especially difficult, so you can finish it in about an hour.
