An addictive puzzle game where you need to move and merge gems of the same type. The game is similar to the games like Threes! and 2048, except there is no numbers here, but gemstones.

Simples e desafiante !!

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
Когда всё нормально, европеец спокоен и хорошо работает, а когда всё идёт через жопу - паникует. Когда всё идёт через жопу, русский мобилизуется и делает невозможное. Когда всё хорошо - русский страдает хернёй.
I LIKE THIS GAME. - random gameplay - pretty archivements - fun for a while - good for killing some time
Хм, игрушка типа 2048, прикольно, но бл, управление... пздц... почему нельзя было добавить ещё управление на wasd? Ну ради карточек её остаётся брать, эх
TL;DR: worth it! One of those low disk space games that you might find yourself returning to whenever you have an extra minute or feel like a bit of escape... and progress is saved between sessions, so there's no minimum playtime required per session!! It loads and terminates quickly!
Thank You, Bogemic Games! This game was originally similar to 2048 but it used Gems instead of numbers. Since then, it has changed a lot. The rules have changed in 4x4 mode (originally the only mode available), and 8x8 mode, while it gives you more space, also introduces chains crisscrossing some gems that prevent them from moving unless matched with identical or (sometimes?) other gems. Pros:

Automatically saves progress in the middle of a game so you can quit and return later to the same game! (however, if you quit in the middle of a 4x4 game, you have to select the same mode, 4x4, to continue where you left off. Selecting 8x8 will start a new 8x8 game, overwriting the previously-stored state save (so you can return to the 8x8 game later), and vice versa)
Pleasant sound effects (I've never felt the need to turn them off)
Relaxing and comfortable music (It can get old after a while IMO, but it is good enough to turn back up sometimes
Smooth, fun gem-morphing animations
High scores for each mode saved in the Steam Cloud
Multiple game modes (4x4, 8x8 at present, each with differing rules, and I don't know what might change or improve in the future)
Developer actively improving content as of May 2019
Cons:

[strike] Setting music volume to 0% does not turn music off completely.[/strike] I mentioned that in the forum and the developer acknowledged it within a few hours and fixed it for the next build, now up! (2019-05-07)
Background "fire" effect plays at about 1fps when the game is in the background and about 4-5fps when the window is focused. It can be annoying. I'd appreciate being able to disable it or switch to a more gradual morphing effect. After playing more than a few times since that effect was added, though, I've realized that I don't notice it.
(SEE EDIT!) [strike]Recently-added microtransactions[/strike] (!?) I think that's what they are, and if so, that's disappointing. They're unnecessary and fortunately, completely optional. EDIT: I'm playing as I write this review on 2019-04-22, and Bogemic Games seems to agree. They're gone, from what I can tell! ...developer mentioned in the forum that "a new method of introducing consumables" would be found, so THIS IS NEITHER A PRO NOR A CON for now.
Gem Forge is a game I sometimes play repeatedly. It does not get old quickly, and when I feel I've had enough for now, for a day, or for a week or two, I find myself returning to it (hours|days|weeks|months|years) later and being enthralled again by its simple and fun yet simultaneously complex gameplay. Bogemic Games keeps adding things, too, so it's likely I'll find new options, achievements, or enhancements when I return if I haven't played in a while.
Gem Force is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a cash grab by lazy mobile devs. It's a minimalist ripoff of the mobile app tier puzzle game, 2048, but "gems" are used instead of numbers. The objective of the game is to "push" gems around using the arrow keys (in lieu of swiping your phone screen). When gems are adjacent to identical gems they turn into the next highest value gem, thus increasing your score. By all means this is just a minimalist mobile app with simple 2D "art", locked resolutions and a screen tapping control schema. It's unclear why this has been dumped on Steam instead of the app stores where it belongs. As usual I can't recommend mobile apps to gamers, even if they've been launched on PC by mistake. I didn't spend thousands on a gaming rig so I can pretend it's an iPhone.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer insists there's no such thing as a "lazy movile dev", but this blatant ripoff of 2048, deficient in every respect, is complete proof of that. Literally hundreds of years of man-hour development goes into games like Skyrim and Death Stranding, but this amateur, non-professional spends an hour or so ripping off someone else's game concept, and they insist they're not the lazy ones in the grand scheme of game development. I beg to differ, and I offer masterpieces such as Mass Effect, Skyrim, Death Stranding as proof that genuine, professional game developers aren't lazy and don't push out lazy crap mobile apps. Sure, perhaps this amateur, mobile dev thinks that what they did was "hard work", but even if it was (and evidence proves it wasn't), that just proves the developer in this case wasted effort in a highly inefficient manner, as their "hard work" resulted in mobile garbage with zero quality or value for gamers. The developer insists their crap ripoff of 2048 is not intended for serious gamers, or anyone else really, I guess we can agree on that. So why did they pay $100 to dump this on Steam, where nobody wants to see mobile garbage? It's a mystery. The developer confuses the concept of a game being multi-platform with the quality of a game, highly disingenuous. Nobody judges a game by the most capable platform it can run on. It's trivial to emulate a Commodore 64 on PC. Apparently, according to this amateur mobile dev, whose games were ejected from the mobile platforms due to insufficient quality, that means C64 games are the pinnacle of gaming because they can run on a modern high end gaming rig. What a preposterous position to take. Once more the developer fails to understand that games are judged by their quality, and being a mobile app, the lowest denominator, this is garbage. Nothing in the pointless response from the developer has changed the fact this is a lazy mobile ripoff of someone else's 2048 game concept. I cannot recommend this mobile app garbage to gamers.
