Gears of War: Reloaded

If you're itching for that old GoW feel, this is it. Both the good and the bad. Difficult yet rewarding. Glitchy but not game-breaking. Regrettably, they have never remade GoW 2 or 3, so that's kind of a let down. But hey, get this game on sale and, if you just NEED to, get the Xbox Game Pass for the other two. That's where I'M headed next!

The Cole Train runs on whole grain, baby! WOOOOH! I can recommend this on sale, but it isn't really a "Reloaded" version, it's more of a re-release of the kinda disappointing Ultimate Edition. If you want the best version of the original game then Gears of War: Redux is the better choice and it's free. Here some insights: The Reloaded version is pretty lacking when it comes to PC features. Keybinding options are limited and there's still no way to separate evade from the cover button, which can be annoying, also the graphic options are rather scarce. That said, it's still a great game, the godfather of the third-person cover-based shooters, remains a blast to play. It can feel a sometimes clunky, especially by modern standards, but the gritty combat, atmosphere and co-op gameplay still holds up. So it doesn't if you're playing solo or with a friend, it's impossible to not to have a blast chainsawing Locusts in half. Please, The Coalition, give us a Marcus Fenix Collection with Gears of War 1-3. Just a straight remaster, no remake needed. Keep the original games intact, add modern keybinding options, proper PC settings and an unlocked framerate. That's all I'm and most fans are asking for. The trilogy still holds up and it deserves a definitive PC and console release, that preserves what made it great while improving the technical side.
